cosmosmith-spec-governor

cosmosmith-spec-governor is a skill for Codex from devnomad-byte/cosmosmith. It costs 56 tokens per session (312 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A project-structuring guide that turns a clarified product idea into a proposal, technical design, and task ledger. A task ledger is a list of work items with owners, dependencies, checks, and evidence requirements.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to create proposal.md, design.md, and task.md, define acceptance checks, assign role-based ownership, and record dependencies.
Why use it?
It breaks a broad idea into small pieces that developers can claim, build, review, and verify.

Skill for Codex

Written for Codex: agents/openai.yaml present. Also seen: mentions AGENTS.md.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00056 $0.00312
Opus 5 $0.00028 $0.00156
Sonnet 5 $0.00011 $0.00062
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00031

Measured 8d ago against content hash ea7ed8996f76, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

cosmosmith-spec-governor scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Cosmosmith Spec Governor

Purpose

Turn clarified intent into executable project structure: proposal.md, design.md, and task.md.

Workflow

  1. Read project AGENTS.md, docs/cosmosmith/idea-brief.md, optional docs/cosmosmith/research-brief.md, and existing specs.
  2. Draft proposal.md from the plugin proposal template.
  3. Draft design.md from the plugin design template.
  4. Create or update task.md from the plugin task ledger template.
  5. Publish the smallest claimable tasks that can produce reviewable evidence.
  6. Assign owner roles, dependencies, acceptance checks, and harness notes.
  7. Add a governance review task for cosmosmith-governance-review.

Task Publishing Rules

  • Derive tasks from proposal and design artifacts.
  • Keep each task small enough to verify.
  • Use role owners, not named people, unless the user explicitly named someone.
  • Leave tasks queued until an agent claims them.
  • Never mark tasks done without evidence.

Completion

Stop when proposal, design, and task ledger exist and each claimable task has output, acceptance checks, harness, loop, and dependencies.

Files

What ships with it

1 file beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
