hivemind: Skill for Claude Code

.claude/skills/maintaining-docs/SKILL.md

maintaining-docs is a skill for Claude Code from dip497/hivemind. It costs 149 tokens per session (2,408 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A set of instructions for maintaining the Hivemind user guide. It explains where pages belong, how to structure them, and how to keep their language short and clear.

In plain words
What is it for?
It is for writing or updating guide pages, choosing the right documentation section, and following the project's rules for diagrams, wording, and page structure.
Why use it?
It reduces duplicated facts, misplaced pages, and documentation that is difficult for either people or coding agents to read.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00149 $0.02408
Opus 5.5 $0.00060 $0.00963
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00030 $0.00482
Haiku 4.5 $0.00015 $0.00241

Measured 9d ago against content hash bb63207b4f85, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-10-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

maintaining-docs scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 144 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Maintaining the docs

The guide is the pages in guide/, built by the Fumadocs app in site/docs/ and served at https://hivemind.griiken.com/guide. docs/ at the repo root holds engineering notes. Those notes are not the guide and are never published.

A good page does three things. It answers one question for a newcomer. It says each fact once. It reads as well to an agent fetching the Markdown as to a person in a browser. Everything below serves those three.

1. Where a page goes

Each folder in brackets is a tab: (get-started), (use), (concepts) (shown as How it works), (extend), (api), (reference), (help). Its meta.json lists pages in sidebar order, and ---Name--- starts a group. Pick the tab by the page type:

Page type Answers Tab Shape
Overview What is this, and how do the parts fit? first page of a tab or group one diagram, its list, a few lines, cards to the next pages
Component What does this one part do, and what does it talk to? (concepts) › Components diagram, list, then only what the diagram can't show
Concept What is this idea (workspace, agent state, trust)? (concepts) › Core concepts definition first, then the rules
How-to How do I get X done? (use), (extend), (get-started) <AgentPrompt>, then <Steps>, then what to check
Reference What is every flag, setting, method, field? (reference), (api) complete tables, no story
Help Something is wrong, or I need to install or update (help) symptom → cause → fix

If a page needs two types, it is two pages. A how-to that starts explaining internals links to the component page. A component page that starts listing every flag links to the reference.

Mechanics of a new page are in references/writing-pages.md: file name and address, frontmatter, meta.json, links, components.

2. One home per fact

Each fact lives on exactly one page. Every other page that needs it links there in one line.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
