yet-another-agent-harness: Skill for Claude Code

.claude/skills/rust-best-practices/SKILL.md

rust-best-practices is a skill for Claude Code from dirien/yet-another-agent-harness. It costs 91 tokens per session (1,059 once invoked), scanned A, a copy of rust-best-practices, MIT.

A set of guidelines for writing and reviewing idiomatic Rust, a programming language focused on memory safety and performance. It covers ownership, error handling, testing, linting, generics, and documentation.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when creating, reviewing, refactoring, or optimizing Rust code, including decisions about borrowing, cloning, errors, traits, pointers, tests, and workspace linting.
Why use it?
It helps avoid common Rust mistakes, such as unnecessary cloning, unsafe error handling, poor dependency patterns, and unclear tests. It also gives reviewers a consistent basis for feedback.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00091 $0.01059
Opus 5 $0.00046 $0.00530
Sonnet 5 $0.00018 $0.00212
Haiku 4.5 $0.00009 $0.00106

Security

Grade A, and why

rust-best-practices scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Rust Best Practices

Apply these guidelines when writing or reviewing Rust code. Based on Apollo GraphQL's Rust Best Practices Handbook.

Best Practices Reference

Before reviewing, familiarize yourself with Apollo's Rust best practices. Read ALL relevant chapters in the same turn in parallel. Reference these files when providing feedback:

Quick Reference

Borrowing & Ownership

  • Prefer &T over .clone() unless ownership transfer is required
  • Use &str over String, &[T] over Vec<T> in function parameters
  • Small Copy types (≤24 bytes) can be passed by value
  • Use Cow<'_, T> when ownership is ambiguous

Error Handling

  • Return Result<T, E> for fallible operations; avoid panic! in production
  • Never use unwrap()/expect() outside tests
  • Use thiserror for library errors, anyhow for binaries only
  • Prefer ? operator over match chains for error propagation

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
