creating-cqrs-command

creating-cqrs-command is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from djscheuf/agentic-dev-ecosystem-template. It costs 121 tokens per session (5,947 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide to adding a CQRS command to a .NET web API. CQRS separates operations that change data from operations that only read it; this guide covers a command's validation, business logic, response, and tests.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it for POST, PATCH, or DELETE endpoints and other actions that create, update, or delete data in the Tactic Management API.
Why use it?
It provides a consistent path for implementing write operations across the API's layers. It reduces the chance of missing validation, authorization, or related code.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00121 $0.05947
Opus 5.5 $0.00048 $0.02379
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00024 $0.01189
Haiku 4.5 $0.00012 $0.00595

Security

Grade A, and why

creating-cqrs-command scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Creating a New CQRS Command

Overview

This skill guides you through creating a new CQRS Command in the Tactic Management API. Commands represent write operations that modify system state (POST, PATCH, DELETE, or state-changing POST operations).

When to use this skill:

  • Adding a new POST endpoint that creates or modifies data
  • Implementing PATCH operations for updates
  • Creating DELETE endpoints
  • Adding business logic that changes tactic status or state
  • Implementing any operation that writes to the database

Architecture Context:

  • Pattern: CQRS (Command Query Responsibility Segregation) with MediatR
  • Stack: .NET 8, Entity Framework Core, FluentValidation
  • Layers: API → Application → Domain → Infrastructure
  • Testing: BDD/GWT pattern with xUnit

Complete Implementation Checklist

Phase 1: Define Domain Models

1.1 Create Command Class

Location: src/api/src/TacticManagement.Application/Tactics/Commands/

Commands use the record pattern and implement IRequest<TResponse>:

using MediatR;
using TacticManagement.Application.Tactics.DTOs;

namespace TacticManagement.Application.Tactics.Commands;

/// <summary>
/// Command to [describe what this command does].
/// The handler will [describe key responsibilities].
/// </summary>
public record YourCommand(
    Guid TacticId,
    string UserId,
    // Add other parameters as needed
    YourRequest Request
) : IRequest<YourResponse>;

Naming Convention:

  • Pattern: {Verb}{Noun}Command (e.g., CreateTacticCommand, MarkTacticProofReadyCommand)
  • Use descriptive verbs: Create, Update, Delete, Mark, Submit, Approve, Reject, Request, Complete
  • Always include UserId for audit trail
  • Include TacticId if operating on existing entity

File Organization:

  • Simple commands: Single file YourCommand.cs
  • Complex commands: Folder with YourCommand.cs, YourCommandHandler.cs, YourCommandValidator.cs
1.2 Create Request DTO (if needed)

Location: src/api/src/TacticManagement.Application/Tactics/Commands/

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
