data-visualization

data-visualization is a skill for Claude Code from Dragoon0x/everything-design-taste. It costs 20 tokens per session (344 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

Guidance for choosing charts and presenting data clearly. It explains which chart fits questions about trends, comparisons, distributions, relationships, geography, and processes.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to select chart types, label data, choose meaningful colors, and design responsive statistical graphics.
Why use it?
It reduces misleading or hard-to-read charts. It also helps dashboards stay understandable on small screens and accessible to more users.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00020 $0.00344
Opus 5 $0.00010 $0.00172
Sonnet 5 $0.00004 $0.00069
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00034

Measured 2d ago against content hash 0b62c39fc683, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-06, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

data-visualization scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Data Visualization

Chart Selection

Question Chart Type
How does it change over time? Line chart
How do categories compare? Bar chart (horizontal for long labels)
What's the part-to-whole? Donut chart (5 categories max) or stacked bar
What's the distribution? Histogram or box plot
Is there a correlation? Scatter plot
What's the geographic pattern? Choropleth or bubble map
What's the flow/process? Sankey or flow diagram

Design Rules

  1. Title states the insight, not the data. "Revenue grew 3x" not "Revenue 2023-2025."
  2. Start Y-axis at zero for bar charts. Line charts can start at non-zero with clear labeling.
  3. Remove chartjunk: gridlines, borders, 3D effects, decorative elements.
  4. Color with purpose: highlight the data point that matters, gray the rest.
  5. Label directly on the chart when possible (not in a separate legend).
  6. Responsive: Charts must be readable on mobile (simplify, don't just shrink).

Anti-Patterns

  • Pie charts with more than 5 slices.
  • 3D charts (ever).
  • Dual Y-axis (almost always confusing).
  • Rainbow color schemes (not accessible, not meaningful).
  • Truncated axes that exaggerate differences.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

data-visualization is a skill published in the GitHub repository Dragoon0x/everything-design-taste (11 stars, last pushed 4mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 20 tokens to every session and 344 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-03.
