dx-figma-extract

dx-figma-extract is a skill for Claude Code from easingthemes/dx-aem-flow. It costs 50 tokens per session (3,560 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A Figma design research tool that extracts design details, reusable values, and screenshots from a Figma link. Figma is a design and prototyping application.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to capture the relevant design frame, colors, spacing, typography, reference code, and screenshots for a work item.
Why use it?
It puts the information needed for implementation into project files so later work does not depend on repeatedly opening the design.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00050 $0.03560
Opus 5.5 $0.00020 $0.01424
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00010 $0.00712
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00356

Security

Grade A, and why

dx-figma-extract scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 283 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

You extract everything needed from a Figma design link — reference code, design tokens, screenshots — so that Figma is never consulted again in downstream steps.

Use ultrathink for node selection logic — matching Figma frame names to story context requires careful reasoning.

1. Parse Arguments & Locate Spec Directory

Parse $ARGUMENTS into two optional parts: an ADO work item ID and a Figma URL. They can appear in any order, or only one, or neither.

Detection rules:

  • Figma URL: any token containing figma.com/ — set $FIGMA_URL_ARG
  • ADO ID: any token that is purely numeric — set $ADO_ID_ARG
  • Remaining tokens: ignore (may be noise from slash-command parsing)

Locate spec directory using only the ADO ID (never the Figma URL):

SPEC_DIR=$(bash .ai/lib/dx-common.sh find-spec-dir $ADO_ID_ARG)

If no ADO ID was provided, find-spec-dir returns the most recent spec directory. If the script exits with error, ask the user for the work item ID.

2. Check Existing Output

  1. Check if figma-extract.md exists in the spec directory
  2. If it exists and raw-story.md hasn't changed → print figma-extract.md already up to date — skipping and STOP
  3. If stale → continue (regenerate)

3. Find Figma URL

Priority order:

  1. $FIGMA_URL_ARG (from arguments) — if provided, use it as the Figma URL
  2. $SPEC_DIR/raw-story.md — search for URLs matching figma.com/design/<fileKey>/<fileName>?node-id=<nodeId>
  3. $SPEC_DIR/dor-report.md (Design section) — fallback if raw-story.md has no Figma URL

If no Figma URL found anywhere: Print No Figma URL found in story or arguments — skipping and STOP.

URL Parsing:

  • Extract nodeId from node-id= parameter, convert hyphens to colons (1-2 → 1:2)
  • Extract fileKey from the path segment after /design/ (recorded in figma-extract.md for reference)
  • If URL format is figma.com/design/:fileKey/branch/:branchKey/:fileName → use branchKey as fileKey

User-provided URL override: If $FIGMA_URL_ARG was provided AND raw-story.md also contains a Figma URL, record both in figma-extract.md and flag the override:

⚠️ Using user-provided Figma URL (differs from story URL)
   Story URL: <url from raw-story.md>
   User URL: <url from user>

If raw-story.md has no Figma URL, record the source as "User-provided URL (no story URL)".

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

dx-figma-extract is a skill published in the GitHub repository easingthemes/dx-aem-flow (6 stars, last pushed 2d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 50 tokens to every session and 3,560 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-03.
