nrf-connect-sdk-integration

nrf-connect-sdk-integration is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from easyzoom/aix-skills. It costs 44 tokens per session (732 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide for Nordic nRF Connect SDK, a Zephyr-based software kit for nRF microcontrollers and related devices. It covers Nordic-specific board, Bluetooth, partition, update, security, modem, and driver layers.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it for nRF52, nRF53, nRF54, and nRF91 projects involving BLE, DFU, MCUboot, Partition Manager, TF-M, modems, nrfx drivers, or board overlays.
Why use it?
It helps trace problems across generated partitions, child images, multi-core firmware, and the layers added on top of Zephyr.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00044 $0.00732
Opus 5 $0.00022 $0.00366
Sonnet 5 $0.00009 $0.00146
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00073

Security

Grade A, and why

nrf-connect-sdk-integration scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

nRF Connect SDK Integration

Overview

Use this skill to debug nRF Connect SDK by combining Zephyr evidence with Nordic-specific layers: board files, Partition Manager, Bluetooth controller, DFU, security, and nrfx drivers. NCS issues often span multiple generated files.

When To Use

Use this skill when:

  • The user is working with nRF Connect SDK, nRF52/nRF53/nRF54/nRF91, VS Code extension, west, or Zephyr-based Nordic samples.
  • The issue involves BLE, SoftDevice Controller, MCUboot, DFU, Partition Manager, TF-M, modem, nrfx, or board overlays.
  • The app behavior depends on generated partitions, child images, or multi-core images such as network core firmware.

Do not use this skill for Zephyr-only boards with no Nordic-specific stack. Use zephyr-integration instead.

First Questions

Ask for:

  • NCS version, Zephyr revision, SoC, board, sample/app, and build command.
  • prj.conf, overlays, Partition Manager output, child images, and sysbuild use.
  • Bluetooth role, controller settings, security/pairing, and connection logs.
  • DFU/MCUboot setup, image slots, signing, and boot logs if update-related.
  • Current build error, runtime log, fault dump, or radio behavior.

Debug Workflow

  1. Freeze SDK and build shape. Confirm NCS version, board target, sysbuild, child images, and pristine build.

  2. Inspect generated files. Check .config, zephyr.dts, Partition Manager output, and image manifests.

  3. Prove board and driver config. Verify pins, clocks, regulators, nrfx drivers, and Nordic-specific Kconfig.

  4. Debug BLE by layer. Separate host APIs, controller config, advertising, connection parameters, security, GATT, and radio coexistence.

  5. Debug DFU by image chain. Check MCUboot, signing, slot layout, image confirmation, and rollback state.

  6. Handle multi-core devices explicitly. For nRF53/nRF54, verify network core image, IPC, and core-specific logs.

Common Failures

  • Partition Manager output differs from the assumed flash layout.
  • Child image config overrides the parent app's assumptions.
  • BLE controller options do not match role, PHY, or connection count.
  • Network core firmware is missing or built from stale configuration.
  • DFU image is signed correctly but not confirmed after first boot.
  • TF-M or secure partition settings are changed without matching memory layout.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

nrf-connect-sdk-integration is a skill published in the GitHub repository easyzoom/aix-skills (31 stars, last pushed 1mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 44 tokens to every session and 732 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
