usage-monitor: Skill for Claude Code

.claude/skills/usage-monitor-nsis-installer/SKILL.md

usage-monitor-nsis-installer is a skill for Claude Code from edilsonvilarinho/usage-monitor. It costs 63 tokens per session (459 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A project-specific workflow for building and troubleshooting a Windows installer with NSIS, a tool that packages Windows applications for installation.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to package the Usage Monitor application, create shortcuts and optional auto-start entries, check installer output, and diagnose known freeze cases.
Why use it?
It reduces guesswork when the installer build fails, freezes, or produces unexpected output, while preserving the repository's existing installation behaviour.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00063 $0.00459
Opus 5.5 $0.00025 $0.00184
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00013 $0.00092
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00046

Measured 8d ago against content hash d8949608d22c, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-10-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

usage-monitor-nsis-installer scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Usage Monitor NSIS Installer

Build and troubleshoot the Windows installer while preserving the repository's known-good NSIS rules.

Workflow

  1. Read AGENTS.md, README.md, build.gradle.kts, and src/installer/UsageMonitor.nsi first.
  2. Prefer the Gradle path first:
    • gradlew.bat createDistributable
    • gradlew.bat packageInstaller
  3. Use the helper build-with-icon.ps1 only when the task specifically needs the icon-patched Windows executable plus a local installer build.
  4. Validate the expected output:
    • build/compose/binaries/main/app/Usage Monitor
    • build/installer/UsageMonitor-Setup-<version>.exe
  5. When debugging installer freezes, use the repository's known lessons:
    • Freeze at 99 percent strongly suggests compression trouble.
    • Freeze on the finish screen strongly suggests a blocking process launch.
    • Keep SetCompressor zlib in the NSIS script.
    • Avoid blocking success flows with ExecWait.
  6. Preserve the current installer behavior unless the user explicitly wants to change it:
    • user-level install
    • uninstall registry handling
    • Start Menu and desktop shortcuts
    • optional Windows auto-start entry

Guardrails

  • Do not assume NSIS is installed; verify it first on Windows.
  • Do not replace the Gradle packaging path with ad hoc file copies unless the user is explicitly debugging the helper flow.
  • When changing installer behavior, inspect both src/installer/UsageMonitor.nsi and the related Gradle tasks in build.gradle.kts.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
