sealgate-mcp: Skill for Claude Code

.agents/skills/frontend-design-principles/SKILL.md

frontend-design-principles is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from Edison-Watch/sealgate-mcp. It costs 56 tokens per session (685 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A set of visual guidelines for building or reviewing frontend interfaces.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when creating or editing webpages, React components, dashboards, documentation, marketing sections, dialogs, or other user interfaces.
Why use it?
It helps keep screens focused by reducing unnecessary text and decoration, showing detail only when needed, and making the main action clear.

This is Edison-Watch/sealgate-mcp's own configuration. It tells Claude Code and Codex how to work on sealgate-mcp itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything sealgate-mcp configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00056 $0.00685
Opus 5 $0.00028 $0.00342
Sonnet 5 $0.00011 $0.00137
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00068

Measured 10d ago against content hash ecf6c6b31709, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-10, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

frontend-design-principles scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 60 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Frontend design principles

Apply to every UI change.

1. Subtract. "Perfection is when there is nothing left to subtract." Before adding anything, delete something: helper text, headings, borders, badges, duplicated labels.

2. A picture beats a thousand words. If an icon or diagram can say it, don't write the paragraph. Reuse below first, then https://svgl.app or https://eito.me/icons. Inline it.

3. Detail → summary. Show the summary only; reveal detail on hover, click, or expand. Never dump the full record upfront. Hover alone never counts: the same detail must open by keyboard and by touch, so lean on native details/summary or a real button before inventing a hover affordance.

4. Keep the main thing the main thing. Exactly one CTA per view, with the only high-contrast treatment on screen. Everything else stays dull, so contrast itself points the eye. Same CTA color, shape, and placement app-wide.

Reuse before creating

Two frontends live here with separate dependency trees, so "reuse" means reuse within a surface.

App (Vite + React + Tailwind v4), frontend/

  • src/App.tsx is the only view today. Tailwind arrives through @import "tailwindcss" in src/index.css; put design tokens (@theme) and keyframes there, not in a component.
  • Placeholder marks: src/assets/react.svg, public/vite.svg. Replace these when branding the app rather than adding a third placeholder alongside them.
  • Inline new icons as JSX with stroke="currentColor" so they inherit text color. Hide a purely decorative mark with aria-hidden="true", but only when the meaning already exists elsewhere: an icon-only control still needs an accessible name on the control itself (aria-label on the button), and an icon carrying meaning on its own needs role="img" plus a <title>. Do not add an icon package for a handful of marks.

Docs (Next.js + Fumadocs), docs/

  • Shared page chrome: components/ai/page-actions.tsx, lib/layout.shared.tsx.
  • There is no icon registry yet. To add sidebar icons, create components/icons.tsx with inline SVG components and resolve them from an icon() handler in lib/source.ts, keyed off each page's icon: frontmatter. Ship the mark in the bundle; never hot-link an external asset.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
