ntfy-after-task

ntfy-after-task is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from Edqe14/ntfy-mcp. It costs 38 tokens per session (636 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A completion alert that sends a message through ntfy, a service for delivering push notifications. It runs after the coding agent finishes a task when ntfy tools are available.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to get a push notification after each completed agent task. It is for workflows where you want completion alerts without watching the agent.
Why use it?
It removes the need to keep checking whether background work has finished. You receive one notification when the task succeeds, fails, or is blocked.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00038 $0.00636
Opus 5 $0.00019 $0.00318
Sonnet 5 $0.00008 $0.00127
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00064

Security

Grade A, and why

ntfy-after-task scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Use this skill when the user wants an ntfy notification after the agent finishes work.

This skill assumes an ntfy MCP server is already configured and exposes ntfy_ping or ntfy_publish.

When to Use This Skill

Activate this skill when the user:

  • Asks to be notified after each completed task
  • Mentions ntfy, push notifications, or background completion alerts
  • Wants a completion ping when the agent finishes working

Rules

Send exactly one ntfy notification after the task is complete.

  • Send the notification after finishing the work and verification steps, but before the final response
  • Do not send the notification before the work is actually done
  • Do not send repeated notifications for the same completed task
  • If the task is blocked or fails, send a notification that clearly says it was blocked or failed
  • Skip the notification for purely conversational replies unless the user explicitly wants a notification for those too

Tool Selection

  1. Use ntfy_ping when available for a simple completion notification
  2. Use ntfy_publish when you need a more specific title or message

Notification Content

For successful completion, prefer:

  • Title: Agent finished
  • Message: a short summary of what completed
  • Priority: default
  • Tags: robot_face, white_check_mark

For blocked or failed work, prefer:

  • Title: Agent blocked or Agent failed
  • Message: short reason
  • Priority: high
  • Tags: warning, robot_face

Workflow

1. Finish the task

Complete the requested work first, including validation when appropriate.

2. Send the ntfy notification

Use one of these patterns:

Simple completion with ntfy_ping:

{
  "title": "Agent finished",
  "message": "Completed the requested task.",
  "priority": "default",
  "tags": ["robot_face", "white_check_mark"]
}

More specific completion:

{
  "title": "Agent finished",
  "message": "Implemented the requested change and verified the result.",
  "priority": "default",
  "tags": ["robot_face", "white_check_mark"]
}

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
