plone-backend-developer

plone-backend-developer is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from eea/eea.agent.skills. It costs 49 tokens per session (865 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A specialist guide for developing Plone 6 server-side software in Python. Plone is a content-management system, and this guide covers its backend code, configuration, debugging, and tests in EEA projects.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to inspect project instructions and build files, locate an add-on, reproduce backend failures, change Python or configuration, restart Plone, and run focused tests.
Why use it?
It helps avoid applying the wrong commands or project layout to a Plone codebase. It provides a repeatable path from finding the failing request to making and checking a targeted fix.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00049 $0.00865
Opus 5.5 $0.00020 $0.00346
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00010 $0.00173
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00086

Security

Grade A, and why

plone-backend-developer scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 19d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Plone Backend Developer

Overview

Implement and debug Plone 6 backend changes in EEA projects. EEA backends are built and started in different ways depending on the project generation, so discover the project's build system before running or editing anything.

Discover the project first

  • Read the project AGENTS.md for project-specific commands.
  • Read the Makefile (make help) and the build configuration (sources.ini, requirements.txt, constraints.txt, or pyproject.toml).
  • Identify how the dev environment is created and how the app is started.
  • Check whether a develop/ directory exists; if not, the backend is likely container-based.

See references/plone-project-layouts.md for the known EEA layouts.

Core workflow

  1. Confirm the failing endpoint, request path, and expected behavior.
  2. Locate the relevant package in the project's sources list or installed add-ons.
  3. Reproduce locally; add minimal logging only when needed.
  4. Apply the fix in the add-on or configuration.
  5. Restart Plone after Python changes; hot reload is not available.
  6. Validate with a targeted zope-testrunner invocation or manual verification.

Common tasks

  • Add or update a backend add-on and refresh the dev sources with the project's develop target.
  • Adjust Plone configuration and verify the app starts.
  • Investigate errors from the WSGI process and trace back to the relevant add-on module.
  • Work with REST API behavior used by the Volto frontend; confirm the exact endpoint contract before changing serializers.

Good practices

  • Restart Plone after Python changes; use the reload endpoint (@@reload) only for quick iteration, then restart to confirm.
  • Keep changes small and add targeted tests for regressions.
  • Prefer configuration and existing add-ons over fork-and-patch.
  • Do not edit generated build artifacts; edit sources and re-run bootstrap.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
