plone-frontend-developer

plone-frontend-developer is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from eea/eea.agent.skills. It costs 76 tokens per session (1,238 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A specialist guide for developing Plone and Volto front ends. Volto is Plone's React-based web interface, and this guide covers add-ons, components, routing, themes, translation, debugging, and tests.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to diagnose browser and UI issues, change blocks or components, handle themes and routes, update styling or translation, and validate front-end changes.
Why use it?
It helps developers identify which of several Plone project layouts they are working with before editing files or running commands. That avoids fixing the right problem in the wrong package or location.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00076 $0.01238
Opus 5.5 $0.00030 $0.00495
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00015 $0.00248
Haiku 4.5 $0.00008 $0.00124

Security

Grade A, and why

plone-frontend-developer scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 19d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Plone Frontend Developer

Overview

Diagnose and fix Plone/Volto frontend issues in any EEA frontend, whether it is a full Volto project or a reusable add-on. EEA frontends come from more than one template generation, so their layout and commands differ. Discover the project first instead of assuming paths or targets.

For Cypress-specific work, use the volto-cypress-writer skill.

Discover the project first

Before editing, read:

  • the project AGENTS.md for project-specific conventions and dev environment
  • Makefile — run make help to see the real targets
  • package.json — addons, resolutions, the volto dependency, test scripts
  • volto.config.js — the registered add-ons
  • mrs.developer.json — add-ons mounted in development mode

Use references/volto-project-layouts.md to map what you find to one of the known EEA generations (legacy add-on, Cookieplone add-on, Cookieplone project).

Core workflow

  1. Clarify the symptom, the affected URL, and the expected behavior. Note the language/locale if the site is multilingual.
  2. Locate the code path: src/, packages/<addon>/src/, or src/addons/<addon>/src/, depending on the generation.
  3. Reproduce and isolate: make minimal changes, add short-lived logs if needed, and confirm the exact component/block responsible.
  4. Implement the fix in the most appropriate layer (project or add-on). Favor design tokens and shared helpers over hard-coded values.
  5. Verify with the smallest relevant check (unit test, lint, typecheck, or a targeted runtime check) and report what you ran.

Common tasks

  • Add-on debugging: find the add-on in the project's add-on registry (volto.config.js, package.json addons, or mrs.developer.json), then trace the component to its package.
  • Blocks/components: check both the edit and the view components; cover the edit-time behavior and the saved output.
  • Theme/tokens: replace hard-coded values with design tokens and update shared theme/config entries to keep consistency. See the eea-design-system skill.
  • i18n: define messages in the add-on/project, then run the project's i18n target (make i18n).
  • Routing/multilingual links: check locale-aware routing and URL generation before hardcoding language paths.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
