check-credits-before-generating

check-credits-before-generating is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from egocen-vivideo/vivideo-toolchain. It costs 48 tokens per session (392 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A pre-check for Vivideo video generation that verifies the account plan, available credits, and estimated rendering cost.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it before creating a video to decide whether to proceed, upgrade the account, or buy more credits.
Why use it?
It prevents a video request from failing because the account lacks a required paid plan or enough credits.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00048 $0.00392
Opus 5 $0.00024 $0.00196
Sonnet 5 $0.00010 $0.00078
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00039

Security

Grade A, and why

check-credits-before-generating scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Check credits & premium before generating

Rendering a video requires a premium plan and enough credits. Check this first so you don't hit a 402/403 mid-flow.

Workflow

  1. Call check_account. Read:
    • premium (boolean) — rendering requires true.
    • credits (number) — the balance.
    • free_video_available (boolean) — a free account gets exactly one preview (see below).
    • links.upgrade and links.buy_credits.
  2. Call estimate_credits with the intended mode/model/duration/resolution. It returns an estimate (not the charge).
  3. Decide:
    • Not premium → tell the user they need to upgrade; give links.upgrade. A free account can still create one preview (a blurred sample, not a rendered video).
    • Premium but credits < estimate → tell them to buy credits; give links.buy_credits. Don't attempt the create.
    • Premium and credits ≥ estimate → proceed to create.

Important

  • The estimate is approximate. The authoritative cost is credits_charged on the create response; failed renders are refunded automatically.
  • Credits and upgrades are purchased in the Vivideo web app, not via the API/tools. Always hand the user the links.* URL rather than trying to charge them.
  • If you skip this and get 402 insufficient_credits or 403 upgrade_required, follow handle-limits-and-errors.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
