generate-video-from-prompt

generate-video-from-prompt is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from egocen-vivideo/vivideo-toolchain. It costs 54 tokens per session (782 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A workflow for making an AI-avatar video from a text description in Vivideo. It creates the script, scenes, voiceover, and captions, then waits for the finished MP4.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to create narrated presenter videos from prompts, optionally choosing a duration, avatar, voice, or brand kit.
Why use it?
It handles the steps between a written idea and a completed video, including checking that the account is configured and ready to render.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00054 $0.00782
Opus 5 $0.00027 $0.00391
Sonnet 5 $0.00011 $0.00156
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00078

Security

Grade A, and why

generate-video-from-prompt scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 38 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Generate a video from a prompt (auto mode)

Auto mode turns one prompt into a complete AI-avatar video (script, scenes, voiceover, captions). This is the default way to make a video.

Which interface

  • Agent (MCP): use the Vivideo MCP tools. This skill uses them by name.
  • Terminal/CI: the vivideo CLI (vivideo create auto --prompt "…" --wait --json).
  • Both call the same API. Never call the raw API if a tool/command exists.

The reliable workflow

  1. Confirm auth. Call check_configuration. If configured is false, tell the user to set VIVIDEO_API_KEY (a key from https://app.vivideo.ai/account/api-keys) and stop — do not guess a key.
  2. Check the account. Call check_account. Rendering needs premium: true and enough credits. If not premium, follow the handle-limits-and-errors skill (upgrade).
  3. (Optional) Estimate cost. Call estimate_credits with mode: "auto" and the duration. Compare to credits from step 2. The estimate is not the charge — the create response returns the exact credits_charged.
  4. Create the video. Call create_auto_video with an explicit prompt (and optional duration_seconds, avatar_id, voice_id, brand_kit_id, orientation).
    • Pass a stable idempotency_key if you might retry, so a retry never makes a second video.
    • The response returns a status:
      • processing → rendering started. Go to step 5.
      • preview → this is a free account. Nothing rendered. Show preview.message and the preview.upgrade_url. Do not claim a video was made.
  5. Wait for completion. Call wait_for_video with the id and a timeout_seconds (e.g. 300). It polls safely at the API's suggested interval.
    • If it returns timed_out: true, the render is still going — tell the user it's still processing and offer to check again with get_video. Do not loop get_video yourself in a tight loop.
  6. Return the result. When status is completed, give the user video_url (the MP4). Only now is the video done — never say "done" before the API reports completed.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
