dependency-advisory-triage

dependency-advisory-triage is a skill for Codex from Eliyce/paqad-ai. It costs 20 tokens per session (516 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A tool for combining security warnings from package-manager audits and OSV, a public database of software vulnerabilities, into one consistent dependency report. It removes duplicate findings and records the affected package and advisory.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it after dependency scans to merge advisory results, check installed versions, and document upgrades, replacements, or other safeguards.
Why use it?
The same vulnerable dependency may appear in several audit sources, making reports repetitive or hard to trust. It creates a stable set of findings for review and remediation.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00020 $0.00516
Opus 5 $0.00010 $0.00258
Sonnet 5 $0.00004 $0.00103
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00052

Security

Grade A, and why

dependency-advisory-triage scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 2 executable files (scripts/lint-output.sh, scripts/normalize-advisories.sh), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

What It Does

Normalizes native package-manager audit output and online advisory results into one dependency finding model so package risk is deduplicated before reporting.

Use This When

Use this during the pentest workflow after dependency audit scripts and advisory lookups have produced raw artifacts that need to be merged into stable findings.

Inputs

  • Read the raw dependency audit artifacts first.
  • Read references/advisory-normalization.md before deciding whether two advisories are the same issue.
  • Read installed package versions from the stack snapshot when it exists.

Procedure

  1. Run scripts/normalize-advisories.sh <artifact1> <artifact2> ... to merge npm/pnpm/OSV outputs into one JSONL stream keyed by (ecosystem, package, advisory_id).
  2. For each merged record, write one finding using assets/output.template.md.
  3. Keep remediation focused on upgrade, replacement, or compensating control.
  4. Validate with scripts/lint-output.sh — duplicate keys fail the build.

Output Contract

  • Match assets/output.template.md: ## Dependency Findings with ### {{ecosystem}}:{{package}} — {{advisory-id}} per finding plus Severity/Installed/Sources/Title/Remediation lines.
  • Output must pass scripts/lint-output.sh (exit 0).

Escalate / Stop Conditions

  • Ask when a package name or installed version cannot be matched to the advisory evidence.
  • Warn when audit output and advisory services disagree on whether the package is affected.
  • Do not assume a package is fixed just because one advisory source is silent.

What ships with it

5 files beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

dependency-advisory-triage is a skill published in the GitHub repository Eliyce/paqad-ai (8 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed MIT. It adds 20 tokens to every session and 516 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-03.
