bibavpn-setup

bibavpn-setup is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from Eljaja/BibaVPN. It costs 62 tokens per session (752 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A setup and troubleshooting guide for BibaVPN, a private network service, covering clients, servers, invitations, and a local Docker test lab. Docker runs software in isolated containers on your machine.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to connect with an invitation, run a local lab, self-host a server, or check required tools, ports, and certificates.
Why use it?
It helps diagnose connection and setup problems without exposing passwords, invitation links, or certificates in chat.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00062 $0.00752
Opus 5.5 $0.00025 $0.00301
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00012 $0.00150
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00075

Security

Grade A, and why

bibavpn-setup scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 3d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 2 executable files (scripts/check-connection.sh, tests/test_check_connection.py), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

BibaVPN setup

Help the user reach the requested BibaVPN outcome. First identify whether they have an existing server or invitation, want a local Docker lab, or want to self-host; use existing configuration rather than recreating it. If essential host, credential, or certificate details are missing, ask only for what is needed; do not ask the user to paste secrets into chat.

Workflow

  1. Find the BibaVPN repository and read its AGENTS.md and the relevant sections of README.md. The README is the source of truth for current commands and options. If the repository is unavailable, obtain it only when that is part of the task.

  2. Choose the matching path:

    • Existing invitation: import it in the client and use its separate passphrase. For the CLI, see the README's invitation instructions. Do not print or log the URI or passphrase.
    • Local lab: follow README Quick start with docker-compose.hub.yml and fresh local credentials. Check that Docker, Compose, OpenSSL, curl, and the required ports are available. The lab uses self-signed TLS and is not a remote-server security template.
    • Self-hosted server: follow README Self-host on a VPS and Build from source. Use a reachable host, verified TLS or a trusted certificate pin, and matching client/server PSK and token. For separate users, follow Manage multiple users in the README, including the registry file's permissions and per-process session limits.
  3. Verify the requested outcome. The CLI supplies a SOCKS5 or HTTP proxy, not a system-wide VPN. For SOCKS5, run the bundled script with an explicitly chosen HTTP(S) target and the correct local port:

    bash scripts/check-connection.sh --socks 127.0.0.1:11080 --url https://example.com/

The command is relative to this skill directory; use 127.0.0.1:1080 for the README's source client example and 11080 for its Docker lab. The target receives a request; choose one appropriate to the user's task. A successful request proves proxy reachability, not anonymity, DNS-leak resistance, UDP support, or that all applications use the tunnel.

  4. If setup or verification fails, read troubleshooting.md, identify the failing layer, and report the result without credentials, invitation contents, private keys, or unredacted environment dumps.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

bibavpn-setup is a skill published in the GitHub repository Eljaja/BibaVPN (60 stars, last pushed 4d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 62 tokens to every session and 752 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 1 finding (makes network calls). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-11-01.
