ci4-advanced

ci4-advanced is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from enlivenapp/Codeigniter4-App-and-API-Skills-for-Claude-Code. It costs 78 tokens per session (2,639 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A reference for advanced CodeIgniter 4 patterns that let code outside the usual app folder become part of the application.

In plain words
What is it for?
It helps build plugins, register namespaces and routes at runtime, discover modules, run external migrations and commands, and connect outside code to framework services.
Why use it?
It explains how to extend a CodeIgniter project when standard folder conventions are not enough, especially for modular or add-on systems.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00078 $0.02639
Opus 5 $0.00039 $0.01319
Sonnet 5 $0.00016 $0.00528
Haiku 4.5 $0.00008 $0.00264

Measured 9d ago against content hash 193f4a4c057a, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-08, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

ci4-advanced scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

CodeIgniter 4 -- Advanced Patterns Reference

How to make CI4's subsystems (autoloader, migrations, seeds, commands, routes, filters, config) work from code that lives outside the standard app/ directory. Covers both documented-but-underused features and runtime techniques the docs don't explain.

Related skills: ci4 for framework fundamentals, ci4-api for REST APIs, ci4-shield for authentication.

Reference Documents

For deep dives, read the relevant reference from references/:

Reference When to read
references/runtime-namespaces.md addNamespace() at runtime, two-phase boot, timing constraints
references/external-subsystems.md Running migrations, seeds, commands, View Cells, filters from outside app/
references/registrars-and-discovery.md Registrar pattern, Config/Modules.php auto-discovery
references/runtime-config.md Mutating shared config instances, event bootstrap, dynamic routes

Runtime Namespace Registration

CI4 docs show static PSR-4 mapping in Config/Autoload.php. But service('autoloader')->addNamespace() lets you register namespaces at runtime -- essential when you don't know what code exists until the app boots.

// Static (docs show this) -- known at deploy time
// app/Config/Autoload.php
public $psr4 = [
    APP_NAMESPACE => APPPATH,
    'Acme\Blog'   => ROOTPATH . 'acme/Blog',  // fixed path
];

// Runtime -- discovered at boot time
service('autoloader')->addNamespace('Plugins\\Store', ROOTPATH . 'plugins/Store/');

After runtime registration, all CI4 subsystems find classes in that namespace: controllers, models, migrations, commands, View Cells, filters.

See references/runtime-namespaces.md for two-phase boot (web vs CLI) and timing constraints.

Running Subsystems from External Namespaces

Once a namespace is registered (statically or at runtime), CI4's subsystems can target it:

Migrations

// Run migrations for a specific namespace only
$migrate = \Config\Services::migrations();
$migrate->setNamespace('Plugins\\Store')->latest();

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
