arktype

arktype is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from eralmansouri/arktype-claude-plugin. It costs 34 tokens per session (1,263 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A TypeScript library for checking that data matches declared shapes at runtime, using syntax similar to TypeScript types. It can also infer TypeScript types from those definitions.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to create validators, parse external input, enforce constraints such as valid emails or non-negative numbers, and define ArkType schemas.
Why use it?
TypeScript checks types while code is written, but incoming data such as API responses needs checking while the program runs. This helps detect invalid data and report readable errors.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00034 $0.01263
Opus 5 $0.00017 $0.00632
Sonnet 5 $0.00007 $0.00253
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00126

Measured 5d ago against content hash 1cabca3154bf, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

arktype scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 5d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

ArkType

Runtime validation with TypeScript-like syntax. 100x faster than Zod.

Installation

npm install arktype

Requires TypeScript >=5.1, "type": "module" in package.json, and strict or strictNullChecks in tsconfig.

Core Syntax

import { type } from "arktype";

const User = type({
  name: "string",
  email: "string.email",
  "age?": "number >= 0", // optional with constraint
  role: "'admin' | 'user'", // literal union
  tags: "string[]", // array
});

type User = typeof User.infer; // extract TS type

// Validation
const result = User(inputData);
if (result instanceof type.errors) {
  console.error(result.summary); // human-readable errors
} else {
  console.log(result.name); // narrowed to User
}

String Keywords

Primitives: string, number, boolean, bigint, symbol, null, undefined, object, unknown, never

String subtypes: string.email, string.uuid, string.uuid.v4, string.url, string.json, string.json.parse (morph), string.numeric, string.numeric.parse (morph), string.integer, string.date, string.date.parse (morph), string.semver, string.ip, string.base64, string.trim (morph), string.lower (morph), string.upper (morph)

Number subtypes: number.integer, number.positive, number.negative, number.safe, number.epoch

Instanceof: Date, Error, RegExp, Map, Set, Promise, Array, FormData, File, Blob

Constraints

// Numbers
"number > 0"; // exclusive min
"number >= 0"; // inclusive min
"0 < number <= 100"; // range
"number % 2"; // divisible by

// Strings (length)
"string > 0"; // non-empty
"1 <= string <= 50"; // length range

// Arrays (length)
"string[] > 0"; // non-empty array

// Dates
"Date > d'2000-01-01'"; // after date literal

// Regex
"/^[a-z]+$/"; // pattern

Objects

type({
  required: "string",
  "optional?": "number", // optional
  withDefault: "string = 'hi'", // default value
  "[string]": "unknown", // index signature
  "+": "reject", // error on undeclared keys (or "delete" to strip)
});

// Merge objects
const Extended = Base.merge({ extra: "string" });
// or: type({ "...": Base, extra: "string" })

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
