In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to fix one documentation file or bulk-correct frontmatter, including its title, category, tags, and ordering number.
Why use it?
It fixes missing fields and invalid formatting that can cause documentation checks or publishing tools to fail.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00033 $0.00687
Opus 5 $0.00016 $0.00344
Sonnet 5 $0.00007 $0.00137
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00069

Security

Grade A, and why

doc-frontmatter scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Fix Documentation Frontmatter

Add or repair YAML frontmatter for documentation files.

Instructions

  1. Read the target file

  2. Check current frontmatter status:

    • No frontmatter: Generate complete frontmatter
    • Partial frontmatter: Add missing required fields
    • Invalid YAML: Fix syntax errors
  3. Required fields (must all be present):

Field Type How to determine value
title string From H1, or derive from filename
category string From parent directory name
tags array From content keywords
order integer Next available in directory
  1. Derive values intelligently:

Title:

  • Use explicit --title if provided
  • Otherwise extract from first H1 in document
  • Otherwise derive from filename: getting-started.md -> "Getting Started"

Category:

  • Use explicit --category if provided
  • Otherwise derive from directory:
    • docs/guides/ -> "Guides"
    • docs/api/ -> "API Reference"
    • docs/reference/ -> "Reference"
    • example/tutorials/ -> "Tutorials"

Tags:

  • Use explicit --tags if provided (comma-separated)
  • Otherwise analyze content for keywords
  • Always include category as a tag (lowercase)
  • Suggest 2-4 relevant tags

Order:

  • Check sibling files in same directory
  • Find highest existing order number
  • Set to next available (highest + 1)
  • Default to 1 if first file
  1. Apply changes:
    • If no frontmatter exists, add at top of file
    • If frontmatter exists, merge new fields (don't overwrite existing valid fields)

Output Format

Show what was added/changed:

## Frontmatter Updated: docs/guides/new-doc.md

Added:
- title: "New Document"
- category: "Guides"
- tags: ["guide", "setup"]
- order: 3

Final frontmatter:
---
title: "New Document"
category: "Guides"
tags: ["guide", "setup"]
order: 3
---

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
