dynamic-typography

dynamic-typography is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from EZotoff/ez-omo-config. It costs 105 tokens per session (2,065 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide to animated typography, where letters or text change with time, scrolling, pointer movement, or interface state. It focuses on motion that communicates status, hierarchy, progress, or navigation.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when implementing or reviewing moving headings, labels, controls, status text, metrics, or display text.
Why use it?
Unplanned text motion can make reading and interface meaning harder to follow.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00105 $0.02065
Opus 5.5 $0.00042 $0.00826
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00021 $0.00413
Haiku 4.5 $0.00011 $0.00206

Security

Grade A, and why

dynamic-typography scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 28d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Dynamic Typography (L2: Motion Mechanics)

Use when typography changes over time or in response to input, state, viewport, scroll, or pointer. Motion must communicate something the reader benefits from; spectacle is not a job. Concentrate dynamic behavior in headings, navigation labels, controls, status text, metrics, and display type; keep reading text stable while it is being read.

Entry condition

Verify the interface works as a static typographic composition before adding motion. If hierarchy, measure, contrast, semantics, or copy are weak, fix them first: animation is a multiplier and amplifies confusion with the same efficiency as clarity.

What type motion may communicate

A typographic change should serve at least one job:

  1. state: hover, focus, selected, active, loading, success, error
  2. hierarchy: direct attention or signal a change in importance
  3. continuity: show one typographic object becoming another
  4. progress: encode a bounded process or data change
  5. navigation: tell the reader where they are or where an interaction leads
  6. responsive adaptation: fit width, optical size, weight, or spacing to the space
  7. expressive delight: character, only after functional needs are met

If an effect does none of these, challenge whether it belongs. When motion encodes data (severity, intensity), typography must not be the sole channel: pair it with the numeric value, a label, or a color-independent marker.

Effect-family selection ladder

Prefer the least disruptive mechanism that communicates the change. Perceptual cost, lowest to highest:

  1. color or decoration change
  2. grade or subtle weight change
  3. style or slant change
  4. width or tracking change
  5. scale or position change (transform)
  6. per-letter transforms
  7. continuous or scroll-driven kinetic composition

Do not start at rung 7 because the font file makes it possible. Match the family to the job before choosing a library:

  • Axis modulation: animate weight, grade, width, slant, optical size, or custom axes for state, emphasis, and responsive fit.
  • Reveal and occlusion: clip, mask, or translate a wrapper while the real text stays in the DOM; entrances and disclosure that never delay essential information.
  • Object motion: move whole words, lines, or headings with transforms; preserve identity across UI states (View Transitions as progressive enhancement, with a correct semantic source and destination).
  • Timeline-driven: bind a bounded change to scroll or view timelines; native scroll-driven animation is enhancement, not baseline, and a JS fallback must not recreate motion the user asked to reduce.
  • Scripted orchestration: WAAPI or a dedicated library only when several text objects must coordinate, interrupt, reverse, or track live input; do not import a large dependency for a single hover transition CSS already handles.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

dynamic-typography is a skill published in the GitHub repository EZotoff/ez-omo-config (6 stars, last pushed 2d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 105 tokens to every session and 2,065 once invoked, about $0.0004 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-18.
