web-typography

web-typography is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from EZotoff/ez-omo-config. It costs 119 tokens per session (2,452 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A web typography engineering guide for setting readable text in static HTML and CSS. It covers text size, spacing, line length, font loading, accessibility, and language support.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when building or auditing typography on static web pages, including responsive sizing, variable fonts, and multilingual text.
Why use it?
It provides practical limits for text rendering without deciding the site's visual identity or typeface.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00119 $0.02452
Opus 5.5 $0.00048 $0.00981
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00024 $0.00490
Haiku 4.5 $0.00012 $0.00245

Security

Grade A, and why

web-typography scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 28d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 1 executable file (checks/check-web-type.mjs), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Web Typography (L1 Engineering Floors)

This layer engineers how static text renders in HTML/CSS: hierarchy, measure, leading, scales, font loading, accessibility, language coverage. It supplies floors and working ranges, nothing on the design side. When frontend-ui-ux, /frontend, or impeccable is active, that owner owns the look; this skill defers on identity questions and keeps the engineering side honest. Full uncut source text: references/web-typography-full.md in the repo root.

Layer contract

  • This is L1 in a stack: typographic-writing (L0) -> web-typography (L1) -> dynamic-typography (L2) -> genre/deliverable skills (L3).
  • This skill defines engineering floors and ranges ONLY.
  • A value pinned by a higher layer is MANDATORY where it applies. A genre skill's pinned measure (an exact ch value inside this skill's range) replaces the range outright. Never average, blend, or split the difference between a pin and a range.
  • Apply these ranges only to properties no higher layer has pinned.
  • Never claim identity or font-choice authority. Asked "which typeface?": route the question to the frontend owner; answer only the mechanical tests a candidate must pass (script coverage, real weights, distinguishable glyphs, license, reliable WOFF2 files).

Workflow

1. Semantic structure first

Before styling, inspect the content model. Prefer elements that express the content:

  • h1-h6 for document hierarchy; p for paragraphs
  • ul, ol, dl for actual lists and term/value structures
  • blockquote/q, figure/figcaption, table/th/td as the content demands
  • code, pre, kbd, samp for computational text
  • strong for importance and em for stress, not mere styling

Do not repair an incoherent document outline with CSS. Set document lang; it drives pronunciation, hyphenation, and glyph selection.

2. Typographic roles before sizes

Name the roles first: display/hero, page title, section heading, body, lead, label, metadata, caption, code, numeric. For each role, decide what contrast it needs against its neighbors. Hierarchy can come from size, weight, width, case, spacing, color, or position; push one or two controls, not all of them. A strong hierarchy usually makes fewer distinctions, not more.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

web-typography is a skill published in the GitHub repository EZotoff/ez-omo-config (6 stars, last pushed 2d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 119 tokens to every session and 2,452 once invoked, about $0.0005 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-18.
