fabric-storage

fabric-storage is a skill for Claude Code from fabric-testbed/claude-plugin-marketplace. It costs 18 tokens per session (1,578 once invoked), scanned B, original, Apache-2.0.

A storage setup guide for FABRIC, a research network where users run experiments on remote computing nodes. It covers local disks, NVMe solid-state drives, and persistent volumes that remain available across experiments.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to create FABRIC node storage, add NVMe drives, attach persistent volumes, and generate the code needed to format and mount them.
Why use it?
It removes the need to work out how to attach, format, and mount each storage type manually. It also helps choose storage that fits the experiment.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00018 $0.01578
Opus 5.5 $0.00007 $0.00631
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00004 $0.00316
Haiku 4.5 $0.00002 $0.00158

Security

Grade B, and why

fabric-storage scanned grade B with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Asks for rootmediumPrivilege escalation

A mod that escalates privileges can change anything on the machine, not only the project.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 240 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Instructions

When invoked, generate code to configure storage on FABRIC nodes. There are three storage types:

  1. Local Disk — Default VM disk, sized via disk parameter in add_node()
  2. NVMe — High-performance Intel P4510 NVMe SSD added as a component
  3. Persistent Storage — Project-level volumes that persist across slices

Help the user choose the right storage type and generate the full setup code including formatting and mounting.

API Reference

Local Disk (Default)

Configured at node creation time:

node = slice.add_node(name="node1", disk=100)  # 100 GB local disk

NVMe Component

# Add NVMe to a node
node.add_component(model="NVME_P4510", name="nvme1")

# After slice submit, get storage object
storage = node.get_storage("nvme1")

# Get device name (e.g., /dev/vdb)
device_name = storage.get_device_name()

# Auto-configure NVMe (partition, format, mount)
storage.configure_nvme(mount_point="")  # Default: /mnt/{device_name}

Finding sites with NVMe:

fablib.get_random_site(
    filter_function=lambda x: x["nvme_available"] > 0
)

Persistent Storage

# Attach a pre-created persistent storage volume
node.add_storage(
    name: str, # Name of the storage volume (must be pre-created in project)
    auto_mount: bool = False, # Auto-mount at /mnt/<name>
) -> Component

# After submit, get storage object and device name
storage = node.get_storage("volume-name")
device_name = storage.get_device_name()

Persistent storage volumes are created at the project level via the FABRIC portal, not through FABlib API.

Patterns

NVMe Storage Setup (Using configure_nvme)

from fabrictestbed_extensions.fablib.fablib import FablibManager

fablib = FablibManager()

# Find a site with NVMe
site = fablib.get_random_site(
    filter_function=lambda x: x["nvme_available"] > 0
)

slice = fablib.new_slice(name="nvme-experiment")

node = slice.add_node(
    name="storage-node",
    site=site,
    cores=4,
    ram=16,
    disk=50,
    image="default_ubuntu_24",
)
node.add_component(model="NVME_P4510", name="nvme1")

slice.submit()

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

fabric-storage is a skill published in the GitHub repository fabric-testbed/claude-plugin-marketplace (2 stars, last pushed 8mo ago), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 18 tokens to every session and 1,578 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it B with 1 finding (asks for root). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
