flow-state

flow-state is a skill for Claude Code from fatihguner/foreman. It costs 96 tokens per session (3,989 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide to flow, a state of deep concentration in which work feels absorbing and progress is supported by clear goals and quick feedback. It covers individual and team conditions that support focused work.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to review focus time, diagnose productivity problems, and design working conditions for individuals or teams.
Why use it?
It helps identify interruptions, unclear goals, poor challenge levels, and other causes of lost concentration.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00096 $0.03989
Opus 5 $0.00048 $0.01995
Sonnet 5 $0.00019 $0.00798
Haiku 4.5 $0.00010 $0.00399

Security

Grade A, and why

flow-state scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 2d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Flow State

Three hours vanish. The code compiles, the design coheres, the strategy document assembles itself in what feels like a single unbroken motion. The noise of Slack notifications, investor emails, and team requests has receded to a frequency below perception. When the trance breaks -- a knock on the door, a calendar alert -- there is a disorienting moment of re-entry, like surfacing from deep water. The work product from those three hours exceeds what the previous three days of fragmented effort had yielded. That experience, reported with striking consistency across programmers, designers, writers, athletes, surgeons, and musicians, is what Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi named "flow." His four decades of research at the University of Chicago established that flow is not a mystical state available only to the gifted but a describable, reproducible psychological condition with specific preconditions and measurable effects. For entrepreneurs, who operate in environments structurally hostile to deep concentration, understanding flow is understanding where their highest-value output actually comes from -- and why most of their working hours produce so little of it.

The Framework

The Conditions for Flow

Csikszentmihalyi's research identified a consistent set of conditions that precede the flow state. No single condition is sufficient; flow emerges from their convergence.

1. Clear goals. The person knows what they are trying to accomplish at each moment. Not the long-term goal ("build a successful company") but the immediate task goal ("design the database schema for the user authentication module"). Ambiguity is the enemy of flow.

2. Immediate feedback. The person receives continuous information about whether their actions are moving toward or away from the goal. A programmer sees code compile or fail. A writer sees sentences that work or do not. A salesperson reads the prospect's engagement in real time. Without feedback, there is no basis for the dynamic adjustment that characterises flow.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

flow-state is a skill published in the GitHub repository fatihguner/foreman (47 stars, last pushed 2d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 96 tokens to every session and 3,989 once invoked, about $0.0005 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-06.
