generating-solutions

generating-solutions is a skill for Claude Code from fatihguner/foreman. It costs 135 tokens per session (4,284 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide to producing and comparing ideas by using several structured methods instead of relying only on spoken group brainstorming. It includes question-based reframing and silent idea-sharing techniques.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to explore solutions to a difficult problem, reframe a challenge, generate options independently, and collect ideas for later evaluation.
Why use it?
Ordinary brainstorming can make people wait their turn, hold back ideas, or rely on others to contribute. These methods help teams create more alternatives before judging them.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00135 $0.04284
Opus 5 $0.00068 $0.02142
Sonnet 5 $0.00027 $0.00857
Haiku 4.5 $0.00014 $0.00428

Security

Grade A, and why

generating-solutions scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Generating Solutions

BRAINSTORM PARADOX. Traditional brainstorming is the most popular idea-generation method in business -- and research consistently shows it produces fewer and worse ideas than the alternatives. No study has demonstrated that verbal group brainstorming outperforms individuals working alone and then pooling results. The reasons are structural, not motivational: production blocking (only one person talks at a time), evaluation apprehension (people self-censor in front of authority), and social loafing (coasting on others' contributions). The method persists because it feels collaborative. Feeling collaborative and being productive are different things. This skill presents four alternatives -- each addressing a different failure mode -- that a founder can select based on the specific obstacle the team faces.

The Toolkit

Tool 1: Structured Brainstorming (and Why It Usually Fails)

Traditional brainstorming is not useless; it is misused. The technique works when three conditions hold: the facilitator is scrupulously neutral, ideas are recorded without commentary, and participants feel genuinely safe contributing ideas that contradict the most senior person in the room. In practice, all three conditions are violated within the first five minutes of most sessions.

The failure modes:

Failure Mode Mechanism Symptom
Production blocking Only one person speaks at a time; others forget or abandon ideas while waiting The most vocal participants generate most of the recorded ideas
Evaluation apprehension Contributors self-censor to avoid judgment, especially from superiors Ideas cluster around the safe and conventional; no one proposes anything that could look foolish
Social loafing Individuals contribute less effort in a group than they would alone Five people in a room produce fewer ideas than five people working independently
Anchoring cascade The first idea voiced sets the frame; subsequent ideas orbit around it A marketing manager suggests new packaging, and the entire session becomes a packaging discussion

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

generating-solutions is a skill published in the GitHub repository fatihguner/foreman (50 stars, last pushed 5d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 135 tokens to every session and 4,284 once invoked, about $0.0007 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-06.
