lanes: Skill for Claude Code

.agents/skills/shell-ops/SKILL.md

shell-ops is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from FilipeJesus/lanes. It costs 29 tokens per session (271 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A safety checklist for Git, file paths, and Node.js child processes in the Lanes project.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when implementing or reviewing worktree management, Git commands, filesystem paths, or process execution.
Why use it?
It helps prevent destructive commands, unsafe path handling, and incorrect interpretation of shell or Git errors.

Written for no agent in particular: nothing here depends on one. Also seen: installed under .agents/ (shared by several agents).

This is FilipeJesus/lanes's own configuration. It tells Claude Code and Codex how to work on lanes itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything lanes configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00029 $0.00271
Opus 5.5 $0.00012 $0.00108
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00006 $0.00054
Haiku 4.5 $0.00003 $0.00027

Security

Grade A, and why

shell-ops scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

What it actually says

Verify Git and Shell Operations

Review Node.js process execution and Git operations.

Your constraints:

  1. Safety First: Never write a delete command without verifying the path is within .worktrees/. Always validate paths before destructive operations.

  2. Path Hygiene: Always use path.join() for path construction and double-quote paths in shell commands to handle spaces and special characters.

  3. Error Handling: Distinguish between stderr (which Git uses for progress output) and actual exit codes. A non-zero exit code indicates failure, not stderr content.

When working on this extension:

  • Git worktrees are stored in .worktrees/ relative to workspace root
  • src/core/gitService.ts provides execGit(), which uses spawn() with an argument array and no shell
  • Prefer argument arrays over interpolated shell commands; quote and escape values when a shell is required
  • Worktree commands: git worktree add, git worktree remove, git worktree list
  • Always use --force flag cautiously and only when appropriate
  • Branches created for worktrees use the session name

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

shell-ops is a skill published in the GitHub repository FilipeJesus/lanes (11 stars, last pushed 11d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 29 tokens to every session and 271 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 1 finding (runs shell commands). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-19.
