lanes: Skill for Claude Code

.agents/skills/vscode-expert/SKILL.md

vscode-expert is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from FilipeJesus/lanes. It costs 41 tokens per session (269 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A review guide for connecting a VS Code extension to the VS Code API. It covers commands, sidebar views, event cleanup, and non-blocking file operations.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when changing the Lanes VS Code extension, its commands, tree view, or extension settings.
Why use it?
It helps keep the extension manifest and code consistent, avoid memory leaks, and prevent the user interface from freezing.

Written for no agent in particular: nothing here depends on one. Also seen: installed under .agents/ (shared by several agents).

This is FilipeJesus/lanes's own configuration. It tells Claude Code and Codex how to work on lanes itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything lanes configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00041 $0.00269
Opus 5.5 $0.00016 $0.00108
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00008 $0.00054
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00027

Security

Grade A, and why

vscode-expert scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Verify VS Code Integration

Check API usage against the supported VS Code version in package.json.

Your constraints:

  1. Strict manifest integrity: IDs in package.json must match code. Always verify that command IDs, view IDs, and contribution points are consistent between package.json and TypeScript code.

  2. Always register disposables: Every command, provider, or listener must be added to context.subscriptions to prevent memory leaks.

  3. Never use blocking I/O on the UI thread: Use async/await patterns. File operations should use vscode.workspace.fs or async Node.js APIs.

  4. Focus on vscode.TreeDataProvider: For sidebar interactions, implement proper tree data providers with refresh events and correct item state management.

When working on this extension:

  • The main entry point is src/vscode/extension.ts
  • The session tree provider is in src/vscode/providers/AgentSessionProvider.ts
  • Views and commands are defined in package.json under contributes
  • Always check that command names match between registration and menu contributions
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
