kafka

kafka is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from fisker086/AIOps. It costs 13 tokens per session (271 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A read-only tool for inspecting Apache Kafka, a system that moves streams of messages between applications.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to list and inspect topics, consumer groups, partitions, brokers, configurations, and a limited number of messages. Kafka command-line tools must be installed.
Why use it?
It avoids relying on several Kafka command-line tools or manually checking cluster state and message positions.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00013 $0.00271
Opus 5 $0.00006 $0.00135
Sonnet 5 $0.00003 $0.00054
Haiku 4.5 $0.00001 $0.00027

Measured 6d ago against content hash 94572e63f3b6, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-06, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

kafka scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 6d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Kafka Skill

Provides read-only Kafka cluster operations via local CLI:

  • List and describe topics (partitions, replicas, ISR)
  • List consumer groups and their offsets
  • Get messages from topics (limited)
  • Describe cluster and broker info
  • Get topic configurations

Use builtin_kafka tool with fields:

  • operation: one of "list_topics", "describe_topic", "list_groups", "describe_group", "get_messages", "get_config", "broker_info"
  • topic: topic name (required for describe_topic/get_messages/get_config)
  • group: consumer group name (required for describe_group)
  • bootstrap_server: Kafka bootstrap server (default: "localhost:9092")
  • partition: partition number (for get_messages, default: 0)
  • offset: offset to start from (for get_messages, default: -1 meaning latest)
  • limit: max messages to fetch (default: 10)

Note: Requires Kafka CLI tools (kafka-topics, kafka-consumer-groups, kafka-console-consumer) installed and accessible in PATH. All operations are read-only.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

It adds 13 tokens to every session and 271 once invoked, about $0.0001 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
