hugo

hugo is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from fmind/dot. It costs 41 tokens per session (1,764 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A standard setup for Hugo, a tool that turns written content and templates into static websites, using the Hextra documentation theme.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to build documentation sites, project websites, navigation, search, diagrams, mathematical notation, edit links, and GitHub Pages deployments.
Why use it?
It gives documentation and simple website projects a consistent structure, local checks, and deployment setup without treating the site as a full application.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00041 $0.01764
Opus 5 $0.00020 $0.00882
Sonnet 5 $0.00008 $0.00353
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00176

Security

Grade A, and why

hugo scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured today.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 81 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Hugo Site Standard

Canonical static sites with Hugo extended and the Hextra theme: documentation sites, project docs, and simple websites. Go applications stay on go-stack (GOTH); this skill is for content, not apps.

1. Core Stack

  • Hugo extended: required by Hextra; mise's hugo-extended registry entry (mise.toml) provides it, and hugo version must print +extended.
  • Theme via Hugo Modules: github.com/imfing/hextra is imported as a module — no submodules, no vendored theme; the version is pinned in go.mod/go.sum, fetched by hugo mod get, upgraded by hugo mod get -u.
  • Hextra features (all self-hosted, zero CDN references): FlexSearch, theme toggle, Mermaid diagrams, server-side KaTeX, callout/card/tab shortcodes, edit links, git-based last-modified dates.
  • Tasks and hooks: mise.toml exposes the canonical vocabulary per mise; lefthook.yml wires pre-commit and pre-push per lefthook.
  • Quality gates: check:site builds with --panicOnWarning; refLinksErrorLevel: ERROR in hugo.yaml makes broken refs build errors; test renders a root-URL copy and runs lychee --offline over it.

2. Site Scaffolding Workflow

  1. Information: define site Title, Base URL, module Import Path (e.g. github.com/username/repo), and repository URL.
  2. Bootstrap: copy mise.toml, run mise trust && mise install, then hugo new site . --format=yaml --force (repo root or docs/) and hugo mod init <import_path>.
  3. Config files:
  4. Content: content/_index.md from index.md (hero layout); content/docs/_index.md from docs-index.md and a first page from docs-page.md.
  5. Validate: git init --initial-branch=main, then mise run install, mise run format, mise run check, mise run test; before the first commit, check:leaks scans the working tree.
  6. Finish: smoke-test with mise run watch, then git add . && git commit -m "chore: initial site".
  7. Deploy: copy pages.yml to .github/workflows/pages.yml and set the Pages source to "GitHub Actions"; the workflow reuses mise run build with the Pages base URL, and CI checks come from github-actions.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

hugo is a skill published in the GitHub repository fmind/dot (4 stars, last pushed today), licensed MIT. It adds 41 tokens to every session and 1,764 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-03.
