foundrole-job-search

foundrole-job-search is a skill for Claude Code from foundrole/jobs-mcp-proxy. It costs 159 tokens per session (1,989 once invoked), scanned A, original, ISC.

A job-search assistant connected to FoundRole, a service with live job listings, career guidance, and an application tracker. It can search jobs, compare them, save them, and answer career questions using FoundRole's information.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to find jobs, get recommendations, compare roles, assess resume fit, review salary and visa-sponsorship signals, spot possible ghost postings, save applications, and manage reminders or alerts.
Why use it?
It reduces the work of checking many listings and keeping application details in one place. It also keeps FoundRole's results separate from general web searches.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00159 $0.01989
Opus 5.5 $0.00064 $0.00796
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00032 $0.00398
Haiku 4.5 $0.00016 $0.00199

Security

Grade A, and why

foundrole-job-search scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 93 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Use FoundRole tools as the source of truth for job results, recommendations, analysis, tracker state, reminders, alerts, career guidance, and FoundRole URLs.

Connect FoundRole first

Every FoundRole tool comes from the FoundRole connector at https://www.foundrole.com/mcp. Installing the plugin does not connect it: this skill loads, but tools such as jobs_search stay missing until the user connects FoundRole and signs in. Check for the tools before anything else — including when the user only asks what the plugin can do or how to set it up.

When the tools are missing, offer the connection in the conversation before you answer:

  1. Look for the tools search_mcp_registry and suggest_connectors; they may carry a server prefix, and may need loading through tool search first. Claude chat and Cowork provide them.
  2. Call search_mcp_registry with the keyword foundrole and take the result whose URL is https://www.foundrole.com/mcp.
  3. Pass that result's directoryUuid to suggest_connectors. It shows a Connect button in the conversation.
  4. Tell the user to press Connect and sign in to FoundRole — a free account is enough, and there is no API key. Once the tools appear, carry on with what they asked.

When those two tools are not available, or the search does not return FoundRole, give the exact path instead of a general pointer to settings:

  • In Claude: Customize → Plugins → FoundRole Jobs → Connectors → Connect, or the connector page https://claude.ai/directory/foundrole-jobs.
  • In any other client: add https://www.foundrole.com/mcp as a remote MCP server and sign in.

Until FoundRole is connected:

  • Describe what the plugin does from this skill when asked, and say plainly that none of it runs until the connection is made. Lead with the Connect step, not with the feature list.
  • Do not present web search results, remembered listings, or your own estimates as FoundRole results, scores, or H-1B data. If the user wants to proceed without FoundRole, label everything you provide as not from FoundRole.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
