ecc-session-guard

ecc-session-guard is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from frankxai/awesome-hermes-agent-skills. It costs 44 tokens per session (544 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A pair of coding hooks that checks edits to lint settings and JavaScript or TypeScript files. It warns about leftover console.log calls and blocks weakening an existing formatter or linter configuration.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it while an agent edits ESLint, Prettier, Biome, Ruff, Stylelint, markdownlint, or related JavaScript and TypeScript files.
Why use it?
It helps prevent accidental loss of code-quality rules and catches debug output before it remains in application code. The console.log check warns but does not stop the edit.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00044 $0.00544
Opus 5.5 $0.00018 $0.00218
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00009 $0.00109
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00054

Security

Grade A, and why

ecc-session-guard scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 7d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 2 executable files (upstream-hooks/check-console-log.py, upstream-hooks/config-protection.py), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

ECC session guard

Two small hooks from affaan-m/ECC at 4eb71d92a39cab44ad40ac9d8a6a5ccb4029d6c2 (MIT, copyright 2026 Affaan Mustafa). The scripts live in upstream-hooks/. This page is the estate wrapper. It is not a bulk install of ECC.

When to use

  • An agent is editing ESLint, Prettier, Biome, Ruff, Stylelint, markdownlint, or lint-ratchet-baseline.json that already exists.
  • An agent is editing .ts, .tsx, .js, or .jsx and may leave console.log behind.

Do not use this to install ECC profiles, a second orchestrator, or a memory store.

What the scripts do

  1. upstream-hooks/config-protection.py blocks an edit only when that config file already exists. Creating a new config is allowed. The hook fails open and writes a one-line diagnostic on stderr.
  2. upstream-hooks/check-console-log.py warns on stderr and exits 0. Tests and scripts are excluded. It never blocks the edit.

Estate limits

  • Do not point config protection at settings.json. Frank has to be able to edit his own settings.
  • Do not treat a markdown handover as a lint file.
  • Review state for the upstream repo is watch. Browse named pieces. Do not copy the full profile into ~/.hermes.

Install

Copy this folder to ~/.hermes/skills/ecc-session-guard/ and wire the two scripts only if you want them in ~/.hermes/config.yaml. Read docs/HERMES-HOOKS.md upstream before enabling a block.

License

The Python files stay under the upstream MIT notice. This SKILL.md is MIT, Frank Riemer, and names the upstream commit above.

Files

What ships with it

2 files beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

ecc-session-guard is a skill published in the GitHub repository frankxai/awesome-hermes-agent-skills (6 stars, last pushed today), licensed MIT. It adds 44 tokens to every session and 544 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-11.
