Test MCP Server Locally

Build and test the paperless-ngx-mcp server against a live Paperless-ngx instance.

Usage: /skill:test-mcp <paperless-url> <api-token> — the invocation arguments arrive as User: <paperless-url> <api-token>. Before running any command below, export them in the shell session:

export PAPERLESS_URL='<paperless-url>' PAPERLESS_TOKEN='<api-token>'

If either argument is missing, ask the user for it before continuing.

Steps

Build the binary:

make build

Test MCP protocol by sending JSON-RPC requests over stdio. Use printf to send multiple newline-delimited messages in a single pipe. Responses arrive out of order — match by id.
