goal

goal is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from gabrielmoreira/agent-skills-mirror. It costs 48 tokens per session (241 once invoked), scanned A, a copy of goal, MIT.

A tool for managing a persistent objective across turns. It can read the current goal, start one when explicitly requested, and mark it complete.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to create a goal, check its status and token budget, and complete it when the objective is actually finished.
Why use it?
It keeps a long-running objective and its progress available when the conversation is re-prompted across multiple turns.

Written for no agent in particular: nothing here depends on one.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00048 $0.00241
Opus 5.5 $0.00019 $0.00096
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00010 $0.00048
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00024

Security

Grade A, and why

goal scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Goal

The thread goal is a persistent objective the harness keeps re-prompting across turns until complete. Goal state lives in the host (session/goal/*); this skill is the kernel-side interface.

await goal.get()
await goal.create("ship the release notes", token_budget=200000)
await goal.complete()

API

  • await goal.get() — current goal, remaining tokens, budget report.
  • await goal.create(objective, token_budget=None) — start an active goal (only when explicitly requested).
  • await goal.complete() — mark the objective achieved.

Rules

  • Pause / resume / clear / budget-limit are user/host controlled.
  • Call complete() when the objective is actually done — do not only say it is done.

Status (P1b): Python package stub — host_request lands in P2.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
