ux-engineering

ux-engineering is a skill for Codex from GalaxyRuler/Galactic-skills. It costs 88 tokens per session (1,265 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A method for designing and testing digital products, including user research, screen organization, interaction design, accessibility, and measurement. WCAG 2.2 AA is a recognized accessibility standard, while JTBD means studying what users are trying to accomplish.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to plan user research, organize navigation and content, create design systems and prototypes, review accessibility, run usability tests, and measure user experience.
Why use it?
It gives development and design work a structured way to make interfaces easier to understand, use, and access.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00088 $0.01265
Opus 5 $0.00044 $0.00633
Sonnet 5 $0.00018 $0.00253
Haiku 4.5 $0.00009 $0.00127

Security

Grade A, and why

ux-engineering scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

UX Engineering & Product Design

Authoritative, empirical, and standards-based methodology for architecting, designing, testing, and deploying digital experiences.

For UI testing execution (visual regression, responsive, a11y automation), use test-ui. For UX testing execution (heuristic eval, cognitive walkthroughs, SUS), use test-ux. This skill is the strategic methodology layer that informs those testing runners.

Operational workflow

  1. Discovery & research — define target market by Job to be Done (JTBD), not demographics. Map the Universal Job Map (Define, Locate, Prepare, Confirm, Execute, Monitor, Modify, Conclude).
  2. Information architecture — organize via the three circles (Users, Content, Context). Build organization, labeling, navigation, and search systems.
  3. Design & prototyping — build from foundational design tokens. Map UI components to semantic roles. Apply ISO 9241-110 dialogue principles.
  4. Accessibility integration — WCAG 2.2 AA via progressive enhancement on all structures.
  5. Testing & iteration — validate flows via qualitative usability testing with representative users. Execute with /test-ui and /test-ux skills.
  6. Measurement & optimization — track quality with HEART framework and System Usability Scale (SUS).

JTBD research

  • Outcomes, not features. Formula: "When [circumstance], I want to [job], so I can [outcome] without [pain point]".
  • Three customer roles: Job Executor, Product Lifecycle Support Team, Buyer.
  • Solution-agnostic interviews: ask about workarounds, prior solutions, and anxieties. Ignore your specific software during discovery.

Information architecture

  • Clear labeling — no internal jargon; use the user's domain terms.
  • Progressive disclosure — hide complexity until requested. Improves "Suitability for Learning".
  • Content portability — structure content flexibly for multi-platform delivery (responsive web, mobile, voice).

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

ux-engineering is a skill published in the GitHub repository GalaxyRuler/Galactic-skills (5 stars, last pushed 2d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 88 tokens to every session and 1,265 once invoked, about $0.0004 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
