Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00039 $0.01799
Opus 5 $0.00019 $0.00899
Sonnet 5 $0.00008 $0.00360
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00180

Security

Grade A, and why

ara scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured today.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

ARA Skill

Use this when working on Pulp's optional ARA (Audio Random Access) support or when guiding users who want to build and validate ARA-enabled plugins.

Scope

  • Companion APIs: VST3 on macOS + Windows, AU on macOS, CLAP on macOS + Windows
  • Primary hosts: Logic (AU), Cubase + Studio One (VST3), Reaper (VST3 or CLAP with ARA extension), Bitwig (CLAP when its ARA extension ships)
  • Target ARA version: 2.x (enum value kARAAPIGeneration_2_3_Final = 6)
  • Out of scope: ARA 1.x (obsolete), hosting arbitrary ARA plugins (that's a separate host workstream), audio-file chunk authoring tools

Licensing

  • ARA SDK is Apache 2.0 — compatible with Pulp's MIT, but we still treat it like AAX / AudioUnitSDK / VST3 SDK: developer-supplied, opt-in, out-of-tree, never committed. tools/deps/audit.py --strict must stay green.
  • DEPENDENCIES.md lists ARA SDK under Optional Developer-Supplied Vendor SDKs exactly because of the companion-API carve-out in CLAUDE.md.
  • Celemony notes: "Any public release of ARA-enabled software should be based on a tagged public release of the ARA API." Use a tag, not main.

What Users Should Download

The SDK is public on GitHub. Clone with submodules so ARA_API + ARA_Library + ARA_Examples all resolve:

git clone --recurse-submodules --depth 1 \
    https://github.com/Celemony/ARA_SDK.git \
    external/ara-sdk

After cloning, verify:

ls external/ara-sdk/ARA_API/ARAInterface.h # core C API
ls external/ara-sdk/ARA_Library/PlugIn/ARAPlug.h  # C++11 helpers

Never commit external/ara-sdk/. The external/ prefix keeps it out of cmake --install exports and the repo audit.

Enabling ARA in a Pulp build

Two CMake knobs:

cmake -S . -B build \
    -DPULP_ENABLE_ARA=ON \
    -DPULP_ARA_SDK_DIR=/absolute/path/to/external/ara-sdk

PULP_ENABLE_ARA=ON without PULP_ARA_SDK_DIR fails fast with a clear error. A missing / wrong path fails on ARAInterface.h existence check before any compilation starts.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

ara is a skill published in the GitHub repository Generous-Corp/pulp (16 stars, last pushed today), licensed MIT. It adds 39 tokens to every session and 1,799 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-04.
