paper-writing

paper-writing is a skill for Claude Code from gioviat/research-toolkit. It costs 58 tokens per session (1,279 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A guide for planning and writing research papers, from the abstract and introduction through related work and other sections.

In plain words
What is it for?
Structuring a paper, drafting sections such as the introduction or abstract, and assembling a submission.
Why use it?
It helps make a paper self-contained, organised, and clear about its context, problem, method, results, and importance.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00058 $0.01279
Opus 5 $0.00029 $0.00639
Sonnet 5 $0.00012 $0.00256
Haiku 4.5 $0.00006 $0.00128

Security

Grade A, and why

paper-writing scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Paper writing

Structure-level rules; scientific-prose covers the sentence level.

Structure

A paper should be self-contained, well organized and with a clear structure. Use the template below as a guide. Don't follow it blindly: it is a general guide rather than a strict constraint. Maintain the structure, but adapt each section to the specific content if it helps in conveying the idea without sacrificing rigor. If something cannot be satisfied for a specific paper, just skip it.

Abstract

The abstract is a short, standalone summary of the paper, typically around 250 words. It must concisely convey:

  • Context: the general domain or problem
  • Gap: specific limitations in existing work
  • Method: The proposed approach to solve the problem
  • Results: The primary empirical and/or theoretical findings
  • Impacts: Why this results matter to the field

Introduction

The introduction serves as the narrative foundation of the paper. It should convince the reader that the problem is significant and the proposed solution is sound, while maintaining scientific rigor and objectivity.

  • Motivation: establish the problem setting and why it is challenging
  • Existing limitations: briefly highlight why current state-of-the-art method fall short
  • Proposed approach: provide a high-level overview of your method, without excessive notation
  • Explicit contributions: conclude the introduction with a bulleted list of 3-4 specific, verifiable contributions (e.g. a new theoretical bound, a novel architecture, or a definitive empirical benchmark). Make sure the contributions are supported by the rest of the paper, and perfectly match the results described later.

Related work

This section gives context to the contribution withing the broader literature. It is not a chronological list of paper, but a thematic categorization.

  • Group related papers by methodology or problem setting
  • Explicitly contrast the proposed work with the closest existing baselines, highlighting structural, theoretical, or empirical differences.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
