file-naming-normalization

file-naming-normalization is a skill for Cursor from godot-fun/godot-framework. It costs 67 tokens per session (1,152 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A filename-cleanup tool that splits asset names into parts, removes IDs and unwanted text, and joins the remaining words with underscores. This format is commonly called snake case.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to preview or rename files and folders containing sounds, interface textures, or other assets according to a consistent naming convention.
Why use it?
It makes inconsistent asset names easier to read, search, and process automatically. It can also preserve short numbers used as version or variant labels.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00067 $0.01152
Opus 5 $0.00034 $0.00576
Sonnet 5 $0.00013 $0.00230
Haiku 4.5 $0.00007 $0.00115

Measured 7d ago against content hash 4fb9132c2c20, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-06, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

file-naming-normalization scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 7d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

File Naming Normalization

Normalize asset filenames: split ?clean each segment ?join with _ (snake_case).

Rules

When this skill applies, read and follow skill-dependency-manager ?run scripts as documented, install missing tools into .dependency/.

Quick Start

Default: split on _, -, ., and spaces; strip leading/trailing digits from each segment; join with _:

.dependency/python/python .ai/file-naming-normalization/normalize.py path/to/file_or_folder

Preview without renaming:

.dependency/python/python .ai/file-naming-normalization/normalize.py Audio/SFX --dry-run

Workflow

  1. Split the filename stem (extension is preserved) on common separators: _, -, ., whitespace.
  2. Clean each segment:
    • Drop pure-digit segments with 4+ digits (asset IDs like 38126)
    • Keep short pure-digit segments as variant indices (1, 2, 01)
    • Remove leading digits from mixed segments (001Hero ?Hero)
    • Remove trailing digits from mixed segments (Attack02 ?Attack, foisal72 ?foisal)
    • Remove user-given strings (see --strip)
  3. Drop empty segments after cleaning.
  4. Join remaining segments with _.
  5. Rename in place (or write to --output-dir).

SFX_001_button.wav with --strip SFX 001_button.wav

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
