cloud-operator

cloud-operator is a skill for Claude Code from GoogleCloudPlatform/gemini-cloud-assist-mcp. It costs 112 tokens per session (3,399 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A Google Cloud assistant and operator that handles requests through the Autocloud tool server. It can work with cloud resources, Terraform, Kubernetes, and Helm; Kubernetes manages containerised applications, while Terraform describes infrastructure as code.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it for Google Cloud how-to questions, infrastructure design, configuration generation or review, rollouts, incidents, and cost questions.
Why use it?
It gives cloud requests a dedicated operator and keeps follow-up work in the same conversation, provided the required server and project are available.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00112 $0.03399
Opus 5.5 $0.00045 $0.01360
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00022 $0.00680
Haiku 4.5 $0.00011 $0.00340

Security

Grade A, and why

cloud-operator scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 237 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Cloud Operator

Delegate GCP work (questions, design, Terraform/Kubernetes/Helm generation and review, resource management, rollouts, incidents, costs) to the Cloud Operator Agent, through ask_cloud_operator on the autocloud MCP server. Keep using it for GCP follow-ups in the same conversation.

If the autocloud MCP server isn't present, don't use this skill: handle the request with the other available tools and skills. If the user asks for Cloud Operator, tell them it isn't available here, and offer to handle the request with the other available tools and skills.

Usage Attribution

MUST READ: Before executing any gcloud, REST API, or MCP command, you MUST read and follow the instructions in Usage Attribution.

Project and agent

Each call needs a project. It can also take an agentId; without one, the call goes to the user's own operator agent in that project.

At the start of each conversation, before the first call:

  1. If you know the project (the user named one, or your memory has their operator project), use it. Use the agent from your memory only if it was saved for that same project; otherwise leave out agentId. Tell the user in one line, for example "Using project acme-ops with your operator agent."
  2. If you don't know the project, ask whether they have a Cloud Operator project, want to set one up, or want an answer without Cloud Operator:
    • They have one: use the project they give (you can suggest their default gcloud project, but don't use it without asking). If they want an agent other than their own, take its ID, or the agents/{agent_id} part of a link they paste, and pass locations/global/agents/{agent_id}.
    • They want to set one up: ask for the project ID, and walk them through it one step at a time: open https://console.cloud.google.com/autocloud/home?project={project_id}, click Create operator agent, then click Get started when it says the agent is ready. Then make the first call yourself (below).
    • Not now: answer with the other available tools and skills, and don't ask again in this conversation.
  3. After the first call that works, save the project in your memory for next time, and the agent too if it isn't their own. Don't save a "not now".

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
