configuration-authorization

configuration-authorization is a skill for Codex from greenpau/caddy-security. It costs 45 tokens per session (4,332 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A configuration guide for authorization policies, which decide whether an already identified request may access a protected resource. It covers access rules, identity data, token checks, API keys, remote checks, and direct OAuth login without a portal.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to define ACLs, enrich identity claims, verify JWTs, accept remote Basic or API-key credentials, call an external authorization service, or protect routes with an authorization policy.
Why use it?
It brings local and external access decisions into one policy while separating authorization from the portal that handles sign-in.

About the project

caddy-security is a security application and set of plugins for Caddy v2, a web server, that handles user authentication and controls access to HTTP requests. It supports methods including local, LDAP, OpenID Connect, OAuth 2.0, SAML, JWT, and PASETO, and is used to protect web services behind Caddy.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00045 $0.04332
Opus 5.5 $0.00018 $0.01733
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00009 $0.00866
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00433

Security

Grade A, and why

configuration-authorization scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured today.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Configuration Authorization

Purpose

Use this skill to configure authorization policy <name> blocks and the route-level authorize [<matcher>] with <policy> handler.

Use configuration-http-integrations to place protected routes, select matchers, wire same-host or split-host applications, and check directive ordering.

Use configuration-crypto to configure JWT verification material, token names/lifetimes, generated or secret-backed keys, System API system keys for remote Basic or API-key authentication, and strict access token profile verification.

Use the static claims enrichment reference for claims enrichment static blocks, exact JSON values, identity bindings and ACL-only decisions. Native app claims_enrichment bindings also load companion Caddy factories; read the host plugin contract before adding another backend. Lower-level AuthCrunch interfaces alone do not establish root injection support.

Use the external authorization reference for external authorization httpjson blocks, required policy-service decisions, private TLS trust, mTLS service credentials and backend lifecycle. External allow is required after local checks; it cannot override local denial.

Read these files when details matter:

  • caddyfile_authz.go for the policy block.
  • caddyfile_authz_acl.go and caddyfile_authz_acl_shortcuts.go for ACLs.
  • caddyfile_authz_bypass.go for bypass rules.
  • caddyfile_authz_crypto.go for token verification keys.
  • caddyfile_authz_inject.go for claim header injection.
  • caddyfile_authz_misc.go for enable, disable, validate, set, and with.
  • plugin_authz.go for route-level authorize syntax.
  • ../go-authcrunch/pkg/authz/config.go and gatekeeper.go for policy defaults and runtime wiring.
  • ../go-authcrunch/pkg/authz/validator/ for token source, bearer, method/path, path-ACL, source-address, Basic, and API-key behavior.
  • ../go-authcrunch/pkg/acl/ for ACL fields, aliases, match strategies, and action semantics.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

configuration-authorization is a skill published in the GitHub repository greenpau/caddy-security (2,263 stars, last pushed today), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 45 tokens to every session and 4,332 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 1 finding (makes network calls). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-25.
