go-authcrunch: Skill for Codex

.codex/skills/logging/SKILL.md

logging is a skill for Codex from greenpau/go-authcrunch. It costs 45 tokens per session (2,486 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A logging configuration and maintenance guide for AuthCrunch. It defines rules for suppressing selected log messages while leaving authentication results and HTTP responses unchanged.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to add or maintain exact, partial, prefix, suffix, or regular-expression skip rules and to test logger wiring and TLS log output.
Why use it?
It prevents unwanted diagnostic messages from obscuring useful logs without accidentally changing security decisions or application behavior. It also specifies how logging rules should be parsed and connected to the server.

Skill for Codex

Written for Codex: agents/openai.yaml present.

This is greenpau/go-authcrunch's own configuration. It tells Codex how to work on go-authcrunch itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything go-authcrunch configures →

Needs its repository: it runs a file that does not travel with it, so clone the repository first. The line is make test TEST_DIR='./pkg/logging/... . ./internal/tag' TEST='Test.*Logging|ExampleNewLogging|TagCompliance' COVERAGE_DIR=.coverage/logging.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00045 $0.02486
Opus 5.5 $0.00018 $0.00994
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00009 $0.00497
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00249

Security

Grade A, and why

logging scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Logging and Authentication Events

pkg/logging owns diagnostic suppression; pkg/logging/parser owns the logging block grammar. authcrunch.Config.Logging persists *logging.Config, and NewServer wraps its supplied logger before constructing every component. The caller's original logger remains unchanged. Filtering never changes returned authentication errors, authorization flags, redirects, or HTTP responses.

Authentication event attribution

Password, TOTP and backend WebAuthn failures in JSON and browser sandbox flows emit WARN messages password authentication failed, totp passcode authentication failed, and u2f authentication failed. They include portal_name, canonical realm and username, session_id, request_id, numeric checkpoint_id, checkpoint_name, checkpoint_type, src_ip and src_conn_ip. The portal name comes from the selected portal config; the realm comes from the server-held sandbox authenticator, paired with its canonical backend account. Email aliases and transformed display/subject claims must not replace that identity. Connected LDAP can move subsequent MFA into an attached local account; its factor realm is that local realm, not necessarily the originally submitted federation realm.

The INFO message user was successfully authenticated records final JSON checkpoint login after token issuance and applicable session/OP admission succeed. It includes the same portal/realm/account attribution, request/session correlation, and authentication_flow=api. Incomplete factors and failed issuance must not emit it. The call precedes HTTP serialization/write and cannot prove network delivery. API-key, provider and refresh flows are separate; this message is not a universal successful-authentication counter.

Preserve exact messages, levels and timing when adding fields. Browser user passed all authorization checkpoints and Successful login describe earlier boundaries, not final credential delivery. Rate limiting, invalid forms, factor discovery, sandbox limits and malformed/origin-rejected WebAuthn can fail before the three backend warnings. Assert actual HTTP outcomes separately; some browser factor failures render an error page with HTTP 200.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

logging is a skill published in the GitHub repository greenpau/go-authcrunch (60 stars, last pushed 10d ago), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 45 tokens to every session and 2,486 once invoked, about $0.0002 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-21.
