automate

automate is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from griffinwork40/agent-framework. It costs 40 tokens per session (358 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A setup workflow for running a recurring, unattended Claude task on macOS and sending its summaries to Telegram. launchd is macOS's built-in service for starting scheduled jobs.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to create a schedule, shell script, logs, and Telegram notification for a repeated task, then verify one manual run.
Why use it?
It removes the need to start the same task manually and includes a way to check whether the scheduled run and notification worked.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00040 $0.00358
Opus 5 $0.00020 $0.00179
Sonnet 5 $0.00008 $0.00072
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00036

Security

Grade A, and why

automate scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 3d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Dispatch two sub-agents in parallel:

  1. Scout — inspect ~/.claude/automations/ (scripts, plists, existing jobs) and the target project folder to surface conventions, naming, and overlapping jobs. Report any conflicts.
  2. Prompt designer — draft the headless Claude prompt for the recurring task. Encode the input context explicitly and require a concise Telegram-ready summary as output.

When both return, generate:

  • Shell script at ~/.claude/automations/scripts/<slug>.sh that cds into the target folder and runs: claude --dangerously-skip-permissions --channels plugin:telegram@claude-plugins-official "<prompt>"
  • launchd plist at ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.claude.automate.<slug>.plist with the requested StartCalendarInterval or StartInterval, plus StandardOutPath/StandardErrorPath pointing at ~/.claude/automations/logs/<slug>.log.

Load it: launchctl bootstrap gui/$(id -u) <plist> and confirm with launchctl list | grep <slug>.

Dispatch a verification sub-agent to run the script once manually, confirm the Telegram summary arrives, and tail the log. On failure, diagnose (permissions, path, channel config, prompt shape) and fix before exiting. Report final status, script path, plist path, and next scheduled run time.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
