fitness-brief

fitness-brief is a skill for Claude Code from gtapps/hermitd. It costs 111 tokens per session (1,741 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A scheduled or on-demand fitness report with either a forward-looking view of today's plan or a backward-looking view of recent training. It uses connected Strava data when available; Strava is a service for recording exercise activities.

In plain words
What is it for?
It helps prepare a morning workout plan, review an evening's training, or report when connection problems prevent data-dependent sections.
Why use it?
It provides a consistent way to review readiness, training, rest, and the next setup without assembling those details manually.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00111 $0.01741
Opus 5.5 $0.00044 $0.00696
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00022 $0.00348
Haiku 4.5 $0.00011 $0.00174

Security

Grade A, and why

fitness-brief scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 114 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Fitness Brief

One skill, two lenses on the same athlete's training state. Composition is intent-driven, not scripted: gather a bounded digest, then write the brief toward the goal below in the operator's configured voice — there is no fixed section order, no hardcoded tone, and no mandatory rest-day copy.

Flags

  • --morning: slot morning. Forward-looking.
  • --evening: slot evening. Backward-looking.
  • --slot <name>: custom slot label; orientation defaults to forward-looking unless the operator's own conventions say otherwise.

Resolve <slot> from the flag before starting. Filenames below use that resolved value. Steps below say "Morning"/"Evening" as shorthand for forward-looking/backward-looking orientation — a custom --slot follows whichever branch matches its resolved orientation.

Steps

  1. Connectivity + sync mechanics. These fold in what strava-health-check and strava-sync used to run on their own crons — this brief now owns that beat.
    • Call mcp__strava__check-strava-connection. If disconnected: say so plainly in the brief and skip the data-dependent parts below rather than fabricating figures.
    • Evening only: call mcp__strava__get-recent-activities (perPage: 5), compare against state/strava-last-activity-id.txt (treat missing as "none"), and for any new activity whose Strava type is Run, invoke /hermitd-fitness:activity-deep-dive <id> (cap 3; inside an open record's turn, pipe skipped IDs into .hermit/bin/hermitd-run task note .hermit <task-id>, otherwise skip the note). Advance the cursor file to the highest new ID. Hold the newest new activity's id/name/sport for step 4 — do not write state/strava-pending-rpe.json here. That file's writer contract (see ${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT}/docs/knowledge-schema.md and CLAUDE.md § Memory Conventions) is write-only-after-confirmed-delivery, precisely so a failed or push-only send can't bind a future RPE reply to an activity the operator was never actually told about.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

fitness-brief is a skill published in the GitHub repository gtapps/hermitd (79 stars, last pushed today), licensed MIT. It adds 111 tokens to every session and 1,741 once invoked, about $0.0004 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-02.
