Getting it into your agent
One page per mod, every tool's command on it. A separate URL per tool would split the same page into five that compete with each other.

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.
| Model | Per session | Once invoked |

Grade A, and why
app-layout-and-agent scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Nothing flagged
None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.
How it starts
The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 66 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.
Lay out the app, place the agent
The app shell is a registry block (app-shell), installed with boring-ui-blocks (skill add-blocks) and never edited. The app shapes it through the props below. The feature map of what exists is features/README.md; the full prop reference is registry/README.md.
Pick the layout
AppShell takes layout (registry/app-shell/app-shell.tsx):
layout |
The screens are | Left pane starts | Pick it when |
|---|---|---|---|
screen |
one page per nav item | open (wide sidebar) | a few independent screens |
workspace |
a ListDetail (list pane, detail pane) |
collapsed to the icon rail | records to browse and open: the default for a data app |
chat |
the one nav item renders AgentWorkspace |
icon rail | the page is the conversation (no agent prop: the shell throws) |
- Phone: a bottom tab bar (four items; more give three plus « Plus »).
compactNav="sheet"drops the bar and opens the sidebar as a sheet from the header. Wide: the shadcn sidebar;rail="hover"keeps it at icon width and reveals labels on hover. - A nav item is
NavItem { id, label, icon, render, badge?, sidebar? }(nav.tsx). The app's router owns the URL: passroute={{ id, onChange }}. Every screen stays mounted, so keep state out of unmount. - One header per screen: call
useScreenHeader({ title, subtitle?, back?, actions?, leading?, dense? })inside the screen (header.tsx). ListDetail { list, detail, onBack, collapsible?, collapsed?, railWidth?, title? }(list-detail.tsx): both panes wide; one at a time on a phone, the detail pushed as one history entry. Keep selection in the URL so a deep link opens the detail.account={{ name, email?, menu, signOut?, theme? }}(account.tsx);theme: { value, onChange }adds the dark-mode switch.locale(fr|en) sets the shell's own words.- Tell the agent what is on show with
useAgentContext({ name, params })(agent-context.ts); it travels with each message ascontext.
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

app-layout-and-agent is a skill published in the GitHub repository hachej/boring-ui (49 stars, last pushed today), licensed MIT. It adds 113 tokens to every session and 1,694 once invoked, about $0.0005 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-28.
