Getting it into your agent
One page per mod, every tool's command on it. A separate URL per tool would split the same page into five that compete with each other.

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.
| Model | Per session | Once invoked |
|---|---|---|
| Fable 5.1 | $0.00131 | $0.02108 |
| Opus 5.5 | $0.00052 | $0.00843 |
| Sonnet 5.5 | $0.00026 | $0.00422 |
| Haiku 4.5 | $0.00013 | $0.00211 |
Grade A, and why
build-agent-app scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 3d ago.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Makes network callslowCapability
Not a fault in itself. Listed so you know the mod talks to something, and to what.
2. `APP_TOKEN=dev-token; curl -H "authorization: Bearer $APP_TOKEN" http://127.0.0.1:8787/api/conversations` returns `{"conversations":[...]}`; without the header it returns 401. How it starts
The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 130 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.
Build an agent app
The smallest whole agent app is one Node server (about 90 lines) and one React page (about 50 lines). The repository's reference is examples/workspace-app. This skill gives the same composition with nothing repository-internal.
Shape of the result:
- Server (
server.mjs): opens Pi'sHarness, one workspace provider and one agent, and serves three routes:/api/conversations,/api/chat,/api/resources. - Page (
src/App.tsx): thepi-appblock'sAgentWorkspace(sessions, chat, artifact viewers) over those routes.
1. Get the version
npm view @hachej/boring-ui-kit version
Use that version (written <v> below) for every @hachej/boring-* package and every registry URL. Pi packages stay on ~1.4.0.
2. Create the app (skip for an existing app)
A new app uses the pinned shadcn CLI with Base UI and the nova preset (blocks support the Base UI base-nova style only):
npx [email protected] init -t vite -b base -p nova -n app -y --no-monorepo
cd app
An existing app needs React 19, Tailwind v4 and a components.json with a Base UI style. Without one, run npx [email protected] init in it first.
3. Install the packages
npm i @hachej/boring-ui-kit@<v> @hachej/boring-agent@<v> @hachej/boring-files@<v> \
@earendil-works/pi-durable@~1.4.0 @earendil-works/pi-ai@~1.4.0 @earendil-works/chord@~1.4.0
4. Add the UI block
Blocks use the app's own shadcn components (its ui alias) and tokens, so install the components once first (what the app needs). Then pick the block from the table in registry/README.md. For a whole agent page:
npx boring-ui-blocks add alert attachment avatar badge bubble button card checkbox collapsible dialog drawer dropdown-menu empty input input-group item label message message-scroller native-select popover progress scroll-area separator sidebar spinner switch table textarea toggle toggle-group tooltip trace
npx boring-ui-blocks add https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/npm/@hachej/boring-ui-kit@<v>/r/pi-app.json https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/npm/@hachej/boring-ui-kit@<v>/r/pi-app-kinds.json
What ships with it
2 files beside SKILL.md in the same directory: the scripts, references and assets a skill reads on demand. Not counted in the per-session cost; read them before you install if any of them is executable.
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

build-agent-app is a skill published in the GitHub repository hachej/boring-ui (49 stars, last pushed today), licensed MIT. It adds 131 tokens to every session and 2,108 once invoked, about $0.0005 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 1 finding (makes network calls). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-23.
