qi-maintenance

qi-maintenance is a skill for Claude Code from haowjy/creative-writing-skills. It costs 36 tokens per session (315 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A maintenance guide for coding agents that change project files. It tells them to keep nearby AGENTS.md instructions and .context/ documents accurate as the code changes.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when making durable code or documentation changes, especially when plans, file paths, or local instructions have changed.
Why use it?
It prevents future agents from relying on outdated guidance or missing important project knowledge. It also separates local follow-up work from broader work that belongs in the issue tracker.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00036 $0.00315
Opus 5.5 $0.00014 $0.00126
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00007 $0.00063
Haiku 4.5 $0.00004 $0.00032

Security

Grade A, and why

qi-maintenance scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Qi Maintenance

Treat the nearest AGENTS.md and current-truth .context/ documents like comments attached to what they cover: read them before changing it.

As you make a coherent change, keep those documents accurate in the same change. The gap test: guidance, or missing guidance, that would cause a cold agent to make a wrong decision there is a gap; a changed path or a missing .context/ file is not a gap by itself. Close the gaps before finishing and leave the rest alone.

Write what a cold agent needs and can't read from the files themselves. When the implementation diverged from the settled plan, record the divergence and leave the intent as settled.

Load /creative-writing-skills:qi-layer when creating, moving, restructuring, or substantially rewriting colocated knowledge.

Track deferred work separately: directory-local must-do work goes in the nearest .context/TODO, directory-local nice-to-have work in .context/FUTURE, and cross-cutting or externally visible work in the project issue tracker. Load /creative-writing-skills:knowledge-layers when placement is unclear. Cross-cutting KB synthesis belongs to @kb-lead, after the change settles.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
