feature-flag-onboarding

feature-flag-onboarding is a skill for Claude Code from harness/harness-skills. It costs 197 tokens per session (2,796 once invoked), scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A workflow for setting up Harness FME for an application for the first time. It checks that the account and project are ready, selects a non-production environment, connects the application code, and verifies that two treatments run.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to onboard an application to feature flags, connect its code, and confirm that different flag treatments work in a safe environment.
Why use it?
It removes the need to coordinate the initial setup steps yourself. It also avoids creating an environment when an administrator must provide one.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00197 $0.02796
Opus 5.5 $0.00079 $0.01118
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00039 $0.00559
Haiku 4.5 $0.00020 $0.00280

Security

Grade A, and why

feature-flag-onboarding scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured yesterday.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 120 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Feature Flag Onboarding

Orchestrate a new application's first end-to-end FME setup: confirm scope, pick a safe environment, detect the codebase, delegate code integration, then prove two distinct treatments actually run live. This skill sequences and verifies; it does not re-implement flag creation, code wiring, or targeting changes — those live in /create-feature-flag, /instrument-feature-flag, and /update-flag-targeting.

Tools

Works through the Harness MCP server or the Harness CLI; names are from tool-map.md. All writes are delegated to the linked skills — this skill only reads.

Instructions

Phase 1: Scope and account check

Follow scope-establishment.md, separating confirmed account/org/project from the application repository. Establish the supported CLI or MCP transport per mcp-setup.md before API calls; CLI users need not configure MCP. This workflow starts with an existing FME-enabled account/project. Verify the needed read capability in that scope. A 401/403, missing tool or empty inventory does not by itself prove missing entitlement: diagnose the actual error without changing scope/transport to bypass it. Missing account/project/enablement prerequisites go to the authorized user/admin, not automatic provisioning.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

feature-flag-onboarding is a skill published in the GitHub repository harness/harness-skills (117 stars, last pushed yesterday), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 197 tokens to every session and 2,796 once invoked, about $0.0008 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-07.
