Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00053 $0.00451
Opus 5 $0.00026 $0.00226
Sonnet 5 $0.00011 $0.00090
Haiku 4.5 $0.00005 $0.00045

Measured 10d ago against content hash d31cf9c5ea64, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-11, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

canvas-discussion-helper scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Canvas Discussion Helper

Read a discussion thread in full, draft a reply grounded in what was actually said, and post it only after the student approves the draft.

Prerequisites

  • CanvasLMS - API connected and canvaslms-api --test succeeds.
  • The course and discussion topic the student wants to respond to (course name/code is enough; list_discussion_topics can find the topic if the exact one is unclear).

Steps

  1. If the topic is not already known, call list_discussion_topics for the course to find it.
  2. Call get_discussion_thread for the topic (or the specific entry, if replying to one person) to read the full thread, including existing replies, so the draft doesn't repeat points already made.
  3. Draft a reply in the student's voice: address specific points from the thread by name, add one substantive idea, and keep it to a normal discussion-post length (a paragraph or two, not an essay).
  4. Show the draft to the student and ask for changes or approval. Do not post anything yet.
  5. Once approved, post it:
    • New top-level entry in the topic: post_discussion_entry with confirm=true.
    • Reply to a specific existing entry: reply_to_discussion_entry with confirm=true.
  6. Confirm the post succeeded and show the final posted text.

Output format

During drafting, show the thread summary and the draft reply as plain Markdown, clearly labeled:

## Thread summary
- [Author]: point made
- [Author]: point made

## Draft reply
<the draft text>

After posting, a one-line confirmation: Posted to [Topic] in [Course]. Never call post_discussion_entry or reply_to_discussion_entry with confirm=true before the student has explicitly approved the draft text.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
