status

status is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from harshanandak/forge. It costs 213 tokens per session (970 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A Forge status skill that reports the current state of a project. It synchronises team state, ranks issues, shows active work, and flags possible conflicts or stale items.

In plain words
What is it for?
Checking workflow progress, claimed issues, active sessions, conflict risks, recently merged work, and detailed issue context.
Why use it?
It gives the agent a current view of ongoing work before starting or resuming a task.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00213 $0.00970
Opus 5 $0.00106 $0.00485
Sonnet 5 $0.00043 $0.00194
Haiku 4.5 $0.00021 $0.00097

Measured 3d ago against content hash 24ae07e3cedf, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

status scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 3d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Status Check

This skill helps you understand the current state of the project before starting new work.

Usage

/status

What This Skill Does

Step 0: Sync team state

# Sync team state before showing status
forge sync || true

Step 1: Smart Status (ranked issues with conflict detection)

bash scripts/smart-status.sh

This command dynamically computes and displays all issues ranked by composite score (priority, dependency impact, type, staleness, epic proximity). Output includes active sessions, conflict risk annotations, and grouped categories. No manual querying needed.

For full context on any issue: forge show <id>

For the full workflow contract and command reference at session start, run forge prime.

Step 1b: Reconcile stale in-progress issues

Check if any in-progress issues were already merged but not closed (can happen if /verify was skipped or backup was restored from stale snapshot):

# Detect default branch dynamically (prefer main over master)
DEFAULT_BRANCH=$(git symbolic-ref refs/remotes/origin/HEAD 2>/dev/null | sed 's|refs/remotes/origin/||')
if [ -z "$DEFAULT_BRANCH" ]; then
  if git rev-parse --verify main >/dev/null 2>&1; then DEFAULT_BRANCH="main"
  elif git rev-parse --verify master >/dev/null 2>&1; then DEFAULT_BRANCH="master"
else echo "ERROR: No main or master branch found -- skipping stale reconciliation" >&2; DEFAULT_BRANCH=""; fi
fi

# For each in_progress issue, check if its PR was already merged
if [ -n "$DEFAULT_BRANCH" ]; then
forge list --status=in_progress --json 2>/dev/null | jq -r '.[].id' | while read id; do
    # Search git log for the issue ID in commit messages (fixed-strings for literal match)
    if git log --oneline --first-parent "$DEFAULT_BRANCH" --fixed-strings --grep="$id" | grep -q .; then
echo "STALE: $id -- found in git history, likely already merged"
    fi
  done
fi

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

status is a skill published in the GitHub repository harshanandak/forge (4 stars, last pushed 4d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 213 tokens to every session and 970 once invoked, about $0.0011 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
