mongez-agent-kit-configuration

mongez-agent-kit-configuration is a skill for Claude Code, Codex from hassanzohdy/agent-kit. It costs 105 tokens per session (1,288 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A reference for the agentKit section of package.json, the configuration file used by JavaScript and npm projects. It explains target agents, skill selection and exclusion, and monorepo project settings.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to choose target agents, allow or block skills from dependencies, configure sibling projects in a monorepo, and control per-project settings.
Why use it?
It lets teams store sync choices in the project so contributors and automated scripts do not need to remember command-line options.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00105 $0.01288
Opus 5 $0.00053 $0.00644
Sonnet 5 $0.00021 $0.00258
Haiku 4.5 $0.00011 $0.00129

Security

Grade A, and why

mongez-agent-kit-configuration scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

How it starts

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 103 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Configuration (agentKit in package.json)

Every agent-kit sync invocation reads an optional agentKit block from the project root's package.json. CLI flags (--target, --projects) still override at call time, but the config is the place to pin choices so contributors don't have to remember them.

{
  "scripts": { "postinstall": "agent-kit sync" },
  "agentKit": {
    "targets": ["claude", "cursor"],
    "pick": {
      "@warlock.js/core": true,
      "@my-org/lib": ["only-this-skill"]
    },
    "omit": {
      "@some-vendor/sdk": true,
      "@warlock.js/core": ["add-connector"]
    },
    "monorepo": {
      "projects": ["backend", "frontend"]
    }
  }
}

Malformed sub-fields are silently dropped — a typo in one entry never blocks the whole sync.

targets

Default skill-sync targets when the CLI omits --target. Valid values: claude, copilot, cursor, codex, opencode, amp, goose, kiro, antigravity.

{ "agentKit": { "targets": ["claude", "cursor"] } }

Resolution order: --target flag → agentKit.targets → built-in default (["claude"]). An explicit empty array ("targets": []) is honored but warns — it syncs zero targets, almost always a mistake.

agent-kit init seeds this field for you so you never have to discover the syntax by hand: it writes "targets": ["claude"] (the built-in default, made explicit) when none exists, or whatever you pass to init --target a,b. An already-set targets is left untouched unless you pass --target. See CLI usage.

targets gates only the skills export. The derive step always emits CLAUDE.md, .gemini/GEMINI.md, .github/copilot-instructions.md, and CONVENTIONS.md regardless.

pick — allowlist

When pick is set, only the listed packages are synced; everything else is dropped. Keys are exact package names.

  • true → include the whole package's skills.
  • string[] → include only the named skills (by their source folder name).

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
