superpowers-sage:block-scaffolding

superpowers-sage:block-scaffolding is a skill for Claude Code from hekivo/superpowers-sage. It costs 102 tokens per session (4,253 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A development helper that creates the starting files for a custom Gutenberg content block in a Sage WordPress theme. It sets up the block’s PHP class, template, styling, optional JavaScript, and related documentation.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when creating a new ACF block, such as a hero or content section, with editable fields and optional nested blocks. It is for new blocks, not for changing an existing block or building a reusable UI component.
Why use it?
It removes the repetitive setup work needed before building a new block. It also gives each block a consistent structure and loading setup.

Skill for Claude Code

Written for Claude Code: user-invocable in frontmatter.

Needs its repository: it reads a path above its own folder, which exists only inside the repository. The line is import { initHfValidation } from '../modules/hf-validation';.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00102 $0.04253
Opus 5 $0.00051 $0.02126
Sonnet 5 $0.00020 $0.00851
Haiku 4.5 $0.00010 $0.00425

Security

Grade A, and why

superpowers-sage:block-scaffolding scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 12d ago.

The scan reads SKILL.md. This mod also ships 1 executable file (scripts/create-block.sh), listed below but not scanned — reading those needs a real analyzer, not pattern matching.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Block Scaffolding — Custom Element Contract per Block

Scaffold a new ACF block with the full custom element architecture: scoped CSS, theme variations, optional JS lifecycle, selective enqueue, and documentation.

Announce at start: "I'm using the block-scaffolding skill to create the block."

When to use

  • Auto-invoked by /building: after lando acorn acf:block produces a new stub
  • Standalone new block: a block outside of a plan

When NOT to use

  • Existing block that needs evolution → use /block-refactoring instead.
  • Non-block UI component (Button, Card) → Blade component, not ACF block.

Input

$ARGUMENTS

Resolve to {ClassName} (PascalCase) and {slug} (kebab-case) before proceeding.

Quick Start

# Generate block stub (PascalCase name required)
bash skills/block-scaffolding/scripts/create-block.sh HeroBlock
# → app/Blocks/HeroBlock.php
# → resources/views/blocks/hero-block.blade.php

Hard Prerequisites

P1. Slug produces a valid custom element tagblock-{slug}. The block- prefix guarantees the required hyphen.

P2. Design system foundation:

resources/css/design-tokens.css   — must exist
resources/views/components/ui/    — must contain button + heading

P3. BaseCustomElement in theme:

resources/js/core/BaseCustomElement.js   — must exist

Operation Modes

Mode When $styles CSS variations
Full Theme switching (light/neutral/dark) 3 entries 3 .is-style-* selectors
Minimal Fixed appearance (footer, nav, ticker) absent base tokens only

Phase 0 — Generate

lando acorn acf:block {ClassName} --localize

Produces:

  • app/Blocks/{ClassName}.php — controller stub (localization-ready)
  • resources/views/blocks/{slug}.blade.php — view stub

Phase 0b — Shared component inventory

Before writing the view, build a local registry of available shared components:

  1. Glob resources/views/components/*.blade.php — list all component files
  2. For each component: a. Read its @props declaration → note prop names + defaults b. Grep for var(--) patterns → note CSS variable names consumed
  3. Build local registry:
    {
      "section-header": { props: ["eyebrow","title","align"] },
      "eyebrow":        { consumes: ["--eyebrow-color","--decorator-color"] },
      "button":         { consumes: ["--btn-bg","--btn-text"] }
    }

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
