heurist-finance: Skill for Claude Code

.claude/skills/technical-evidence/SKILL.md

technical-evidence is a skill for Claude Code from heurist-network/heurist-finance. It costs 92 tokens per session (1,223 once invoked), scanned A, original, MIT.

A research method for judging price-based stock signals by the quality of evidence behind them. It separates documented patterns, such as short-term reversals or price movement after earnings, from common chart-reading beliefs with little support.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to evaluate charts, judge technical-analysis claims, and decide whether a price pattern has useful evidence or is mainly a popular belief.
Why use it?
It prevents timing decisions from treating folklore and tested findings as equally reliable. It also keeps chart signals in their proper role: helping with entry timing and risk placement for an investment idea.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00092 $0.01223
Opus 5.5 $0.00037 $0.00489
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00018 $0.00245
Haiku 4.5 $0.00009 $0.00122

Security

Grade A, and why

technical-evidence scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 13d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Technical Evidence

Shared plumbing and output contract: ../_shared/analyst-core.md. TA's honest job in this stack: timing and risk placement for a thesis that exists on other grounds — and occasionally a standalone signal where the effect is actually documented. (For the operational entry/exit procedure — regime-gated band reads, limit-price ladders, stops — use entry-exit-timing; this skill is the evidence layer beneath it.) This skill's core content is the evidence tiering, because treating folklore and documented effects as one "technical picture" is the signature TA failure.

The evidence tiers

Tier 1 — documented, still-live effects (usable as signal):

  • Short-term reversal: ~1-week losers beat winners over the following week (Jegadeesh 1990) — liquid names, fades with size. Implication: don't chase multi-day spikes; buy pullbacks, fade panic days in quality names.
  • 52-week-high proximity (George & Hwang): anchoring underreaction near highs, ~0.5%/month effect. New-high lists are a feature, not a warning.
  • Momentum 3–12 months — full treatment in momentum-trend; it's the strongest price-only effect known.
  • Post-earnings drift — price/volume confirmation of a surprise carries real forward signal (earnings-play).
  • Volatility clustering: today's vol predicts tomorrow's (the one universally replicated price fact) — position sizing and stop width should be ATR/realized-vol-scaled, always.

Tier 2 — degraded or conditional (context only, never standalone):

  • Moving-average trend rules: genuine in-sample edge on indices pre-1990 (Brock, Lakonishok & LeBaron 1992), largely arbitraged away after publication and costs. Still useful as regime descriptors (above/below 200d changes the return distribution's shape) — not as entry signals.
  • RSI(2)-style short-term mean reversion (Connors): worked in specific ETF samples, regime-dependent, dies in trends. Test on the actual asset's recent data before citing (see below).
  • Volume confirmation: breakouts on ≥1.5× average volume fail less often — directionally supported, weak alone.
  • Classic patterns (head-and-shoulders etc.): mixed academic evidence (Lo, Mamaysky & Wang found some information content; out-of-sample profitability after costs is thin). Descriptive language, not signal.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

technical-evidence is a skill published in the GitHub repository heurist-network/heurist-finance (11 stars, last pushed 14d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 92 tokens to every session and 1,223 once invoked, about $0.0004 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-10-24.
